Just returned from I-80 from Sacramento to the summit. snow sideways! Had a good time testing the Scorpions.
Deep snow up to 2 feet. Scorpions were competent. I took work to break them loose and when they did they got back on track by slowing down. Easily track and competent from 0 mph to 40 mph in slush, packed snow and ice. and deep drifts-tracked easily. I made my own tracks on roads near the freeway and went through drifts up over front bumper without difficulty. VSC alarmed twice when I pushed the accelerator. With the differential locked the back end came around worse going up unplowed roads. With VSC on the Scorps tracked much better on the same road. Level road in deep snow with diff locked was fine and felt good.
Acceleration without spin or breaking loose at all speeds and passing slower trucks and vehicles up to 45 mph unless I jumped on it.
Braking was problematic on ice only and snow over ice as ABS came on every time with moderate brake pedal pressure. slid on packed ice going downhill but easily kept a straight track and then I used gears and easy brake pedal to correct this. stopped easily in packed snow, slush and from speed on snow without slipping. easy command of all situations with ice being the condition which demanded the most of the driver and the vehicle (with ABS chattering).
In situations where other 4WD vehicles were following trucks, passed easily and without concern or incident. Acceleration was smooth and without slip. I do not have experience with other tires which you all favor so I can only say that for a 1st time, I did not have any potential worries about the Scorpions. At one point, I was the only vehicle on Interstate 80 and the Beast and I played in the snow. :driving:
