The beauty of the 2nd Amendment

Actually, scientific proof of a "gay gene" has never been found.

Specifically, no academic paper has ever been "published" in a journal of science or medicine that produced findings which prove the existance of a "gay gene" or series of genetic markers that would indicate homosexuality.

As far as science is concerned there is no gay gene.

Does that mean homosexuality is a choice in your opinion? Or is there some other form of predisposition? Is it learned behavior?

Which is not to say that being gay is a choice for people. Any gay friend of mine when asked would tell you it's not a choice they made.

Furthermore...

I don't believe people choose to be gay. The way i see it, just because there is no genetic indicator doesn't mean they were born that way or became that way as their brains developed. It does not have to be a environmental factor, which we know it isn't, due to the number of gays born in straight anti-gay households.

I also believe that one day we will find a biological / genetic link to homosexuality but it hasn't been found yet.

When seemingly every gay person says they knew at age 8-10 that they liked boys attraction wise then it seems to me they all were that way by age 10. Probably a combination of factors brought them to be gay, likely genetic and biological.

you're right , but we're getting there, enough for me say there is differently something to it.
In July 2010 a group of geneticists at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science an Technology altered the sexual preferences of female mice by removing a single gene linked to reproductive behavior. Without the gene, the mice exhibited masculine sexual behavior and attraction toward urine of other female mice. Those mice who retained the gene fucose mutarotase (FucM) were attracted to male mice.

A recent study suggests linkage between a mother's genetic make-up and homosexuality of her sons.
Women have two X chromosomes, one of which is "switched off". The inactivation of the X chromosome occurs randomly throughout the embryo, resulting in cells that are mosaic with respect to which chromosome is active. In some cases though, it appears that this switching off can occur in a non-random fashion. Bocklandt et al. (2006) reported that, in mothers of homosexual men, the number of women with extreme skewing of X chromosome inactivation is significantly higher than in mothers without gay sons. Thirteen percent of mothers with one gay son, and 23% of mothers with two gay sons showed extreme skewing, compared to 4% percent of mothers without gay sons

but really, like i keep saying this argument is bull****, who cares why or how?
just accept them for who they are, this whole line of trying to understand the complete process of genetic human evolution to prove one way or another is just re****ed to begin with, we shouldn't even be having this conversation, this is like trying to find the "jew" gene to argue if they are legitimate people or not, total b.s. , we know gay has been around forever so it's not some genetic mutation that needs to be figured out and eradicated like Parkinsons. And since when have we made laws based on genetics? kind of f'd up if you ask me.

the only reason i even put any of this genetic b.s. up is to clear up a bit of ignorance and show you that gay isn't an invention of the last 30 years
,that gay has already been around for ages and you, yourself had the potential to be gay when your being developed in the womb.

i just don't see how this genetics stuff figures in to how we treat and deal with another human being that is different from us? if we changed the word gay in this conversation to black or blonde haired how would you feel about your stance on this?

Not sure to whom your last sentence is directed, but I clearly stated where I stand on homosexuality and heterosexuality previously. Perhaps I derailed an already detailed conversation by seemingly bringing us down this path, but there were statements / opinions made that I found odd or wanted clarification.

I agree with you that you could replace gay with Jew, black, Mexican, or any other adjective such as fat or tall with the groups mentioned and my thoughts would be the same to a large degree.

As long as I'm not being damaged or compromised in any way, shape, or form, I defend the rights of those individuals to do as they wish and to live life how they desire. Who am I to intervene when my intervention is not necessary nor wanted?

Back on topic, the 2nd amendment and right to carry is important because it forces you to deal with me in a civilized manner with logic and reason versus using force against me, whether or not if I have a firearm on my hip or hidden on my person. The mere thought that I may forces the ideology that you better observe these basic principles if you value your life and safety. If anyone thinks I'm wrong, let's hear your opinion.

hey no worry man, i guess i was just talking "at" you as opposed "to" you if that makes any sense, not harboring any sort of judgment over here or saying anything about you, i was just using you in the larger sense, i feel like we're just having a discussion as opposed to an argument...so moving on from the gay stuff and back on topic......

yeah, i'm as about as conservative as you can get on the gun issues, and like said before in another post "my cold dead hands" they can ban them or do whatever they want but they will always be there and my family has our stash, so good luck finding/them taking them..........

True stats of gun murders in America vs the world

Anti-gunners fail to prove there premise. Stats dont lie.

Although I don't agree with some of his characterizations I do agree with the numbers and that is why I am a "stick to the facts" kind of person when it comes to the gun ownership / control discussion and support gun ownership.

The facts are that most of what the anti-gunners have claimed of the years has been debunked.
