The beginnings of my Headlight Washer Retrofit!

That's some legit pressure, and the spread looks dead on. Useful mod, though all that metal removal makes me a bit uneasy. Lol.

If you're wanting the aim a little higher, why not just shim the back edge to get the angle where you want it?

It's a super unique, incredibly useful mod. Nicely done, sir!

Once I'm able to install the threaded locking collars I think it will improve the angle. Currently the bumper support brackets are preventing the nozzles from being tilted forward anymore.

It'd be awesome if you throw some dirt or something on your lights and try them out. Hopefully they work great! If you do test em make sure to get a video

I spent the better part of the day tinkering on this washer retrofit.

Had to cut out a little more sheet metal than I was hoping for...and Im currently unable to re-install the cruise control module due to the location of the filler neck. Might have to fab up a skinnier elbow.

The fender liner was a little difficult to get back in. It is tight up against the bottom of the reservoir. I was unable to get the hole lined up from the grommet directly behind the pump.


They are aimed a little low... with a small screwdriver I aimed the little nozzles as far up as they can go. I may drill the holes a little farther forward to try and correct the trajectory, but they should still work well as is.

This pump spits out a ton of volume! Much more than a standard washer pump. I bet it would drain the entire tank in around 30 seconds.

Nice! Bout the only reason I can think of for having a fat-lip bumper I guess.

I'll be honest, I've never seen headlight sprayer thingies in action before that video you posted. I was expecting a wimpy little stream of water — not a frigging water-cannon!

Too bad you can't turn the nozzles around and put out random fires or maybe add some pepper-spray to the reservoir and do some crowd control. ainkiller:

Hah yeah it's nuts! Tried them out at highway speed today...tons of fluid sprays up lol

Finished up the wiring and installed a momentary switch I had laying around and a fuse block. Wasn't sure how much the pump would draw so I started with a 5amp, blew that right away..next a 10amp. It worked in my garage but blew when I was out driving around. 15amp has been working reliably. Shouldn't be a problem for the 14 gauge wiring.

Finally got to actually test out the functionality of the washer retrofit! Got some really heavy, wet snow yesterday.


After only a few minutes of driving, this was the result.








After a few blasts of the washer jets going around 80kmh (50mph), the washer jets did a nice job of basting a lot of the slush away. Going to tinker with the aim a little bit more to make it perfect.








Im pretty damn satisfied! I can imagine driving through this stuff at night would make the headlights near useless within a few minutes. With all the long distance driving I do, this is a worthwhile upgrade!

Awesome mod. My LS has headlight washers and I've never had to use them living in the south but those look incredibly useful for you.
