Hawaii? Just because you have the most lifted trucks per person (I doubt it tho') doesn't qualify a state to be the best 4 wheelin' state but I'm sure per capita we have more 4wd per person than Hawaii and we have obvously so much more land and trails.

I've lived in Hawaii and your trails are quite limited and it seems most of the lifted trucks out there were for looks more than anything else.

it seems like theres a fine line, ive seen trucks that are just ridiculous im sure there functional, but why? i saw a bronco looking thing that had, oh lets say . . . 46-50in tires by oh, 10.50 . . . and had like a 15 to 20in lift or something. i dont even see why one would have to go through mud that thick. thats the only reason id see having skinny big tires. btw mines just for looks i can wash it up and drive it to walmart and she blends right in with the rest of the croud of minivans. but when it snows those minivans will know how much of a baller my truck is haha. honestly all trucks on the road can be considered just for looks. there our modes of transport. its second use can be off road, just cause it doesnt see off road every day doesnt mean its not worthy of offroad... and just cause you have a sweet lift or a budget lift shouldnt make a difference. or if you cruise around stock like me my .02

I actually agree with Ron on this one, when I go to Hawaii ever year I see so many lifted trucks, but many are 2wd and Hawaii's small size alone makes it very difficult to be the best 4wd state...

Not trying to be a hater, just trying to contribute to the topic, which is "The Best 4wd State" not "Rep your state" although it often turns into one in the same

Relax man, all I am saying is that I don't think Hawaii is the best 4wd state, if you think the same about any of the previous ones mentioned feel free to do the same.

You can do the same thing about my vote, California (yes I live here so I am biased, too). If you don't think that it is the best 4wd state, feel free to say it, and explain why.

Dang some tension on this topic. I myself do not off road, but I have been to all of the states in the western half of the country. I would put CO and UT up there. Even Wyoming, how come no votes for a wiiiide open state?? I guess it depends on what people look for? Mountains? Trails? Amount of trails? Difficulty?

I look for snow and thats why my biased opinion is CO, UT and WY

It's hard to say which state has the most trails. Here in AZ there are quite a few books on trails around here, some that are multiple volumes broken up by sections of the state. We have pine forests and lakes in the higher elevations and Sonoran desert trails in the lower elevations. I can drive about 70 miles and be up in the snow during the winter, or just stay in the desert near my home and enjoy 70 degree temperatures in the winter... can't beat that! Plus there are tons of off-road clubs here and you can easily find a group to go out with on any weekend.

However my vote goes to CALIFORNIA, we have it all; Sand Dunes, Foothills, & awesome OHV trails up in the Sierra Nevada mtns. we have a lot to offer OFF-ROAD wise, so many places to expore........

Like Bald Mtn OHV, Deer Creek, Swamp Lake, Slick Rock, Rubicon, Pismo Dunes, Hollister Hills etc.. etc... just to mention a few off the top of my head.
