When I saw this video, knowing nothing about it, I was a little taken back. After seeing a few more videos on why the hogs are bad, I understand it a lot better.

Yeah on the surface it looks wild but it's crazy how destructive they are. A quote from this article:

There's usually food banks that take the meet and feed the homeless.

I actually just read an article in Time today about these hogs, deer, bear, and other "pest" animals. Other solutions have been sought, but nothing has worked as well as hunting. It was crazy the number of animals there are out there, and the damage they can do.
And yes, a lot of times the meat is donated to good banks and shelters, so it helps out more than just the land owners.

Is there an age limit?
We require our shooters to be at least 16 years of age for safety. Shooters under the age of 18 must fly with a member of Heli Hunter staff.

Is there a weight limit?
There is a 300 lb per seat limit on the R-44. This is not negotiable and we will check your weight during safety briefing before the hunt begins. Shooters close to limit may be required to fly solo.

Do you hunt all year?
Although there is not a season for feral pigs, we only hunt in the winter months. Our season begins in December when the leaves fall, and ends when they bloom in the spring. Although we can fly and hunt during the rest of the year you will not be able to see the pigs through the tree canopy and brush. Since this is where the pigs hide, aerial hunting is not as effective during the rest of the year. Also, cool winter air produces more lift providing a safer more stable flight.

How many hogs can I expect to shoot?
Our worst day last season was a two hour flight resulting in 29 kills, and our best day was 254 confirmed kills in a three hour span. We have plenty of pigs and a lot of land, but results can vary depending on weather, wildlife movement, and good ole luck.

Are you insured?
Yes, we have $1 million in liability coverage through Leading Edge Aviation Insurance.

Do you provide the ammo?
Yes, 00 buckshot is provided for your hunt and there is no limit on your ammunition so don't be afraid to let the lead fly.

Am I required to have a hunting license?
Yes, you will be required to show your valid Texas hunting license. Out of state hunters can obtain a five day temporary hunting license. We can help with this if need be upon arrival.

Can we shoot our own guns?
Our agreement with most of the landowners we hunt for is that we will use shotguns. In our experience they are much more effective, efficient, and alleviate liability from ricochet. We do have some land where we can shoot rifles, but your hunting ground will be limited. We are developing an aerial shooting range to be open for the 2012-2013 season, and you can shoot anything you like.

What type of gun will we use?
We use the MKA 1919 (an AR-15 magazine fed) 12 gauge shotgun. The MKA 1919 is a 12 gauge shotgun on the AR-15 platform. It has 22" barrel with tactical full choke and 10 round magazines.

Can we hunt our own property?
Yes. Depending on your location and acreage we may have a ferrying fee, but we love to travel and hunt all over Texas. Eliminating pigs from your own land is a great experience, and you get more bang for your buck (literally).

What happens in the event of bad weather?
Wind is generally the only thing that shuts us down. For safety, we do not fly when winds exceed 20 kts. We leave room in our schedule for adjustments and constantly monitor the forecasts. We usually know a day or two before your flight if weather could potentially be an issue. In the event of a postponement, we will adjust your flight time, reschedule, or give you a refund on your deposit.

How much notice do you require to book a hunt?
Although we don't have a set requirement, our policy is first come, first serve. We recommend booking as early as you can to be able to get the date that you want. Our weekends generally go pretty fast, so hurry and book it today.

What should I wear?
Our winter season can be warm or freezing. We will be watching weather and can make recommendations. Bulky clothing along with the safety harness can restrict movement and be cumbersome in the helicopter, so it is good to dress in layers. Welcome to Texas, if you don't like the weather just wait 15 minutes.

How large of a group can hunt?
We can accommodate up to ten, but recommend parties of 4 to 6. We can land in fields and switch shooters just about any time.

What type of helicopter do you use?
We hunt out of a 2006 Robinson R-44 Raven II. We feel that the R-44 is safer, and more stable than the R-22 because of it's higher usable payload. Due to it's low operating cost, great flight characteristics, and incredible safety record, the Robinson R-44 is one the most popular helicopters in the world.

Where will we be hunting?
Our regular hunting grounds start at the Heli Hunter hanger, and span 6 counties. Our Heli Hunter home base is located about 1 hour south of downtown Dallas. You may be hunting in corn, wheat, soybean, or cotton fields. We also hunt creeks, river bottoms, hay fields, and pasture land. Depending on season, time of day, or whether we will go where you will have the best chance to find pigs. You will see all types of country with Heli Hunter.

What do you do with the pigs that we shoot?
All of the pigs that you shoot are yours. We have a crew on the ground that can pick up the ones that you want. If possible the ones that you choose to leave will be collected and given to local families and laborers that need the meat.

What do I get with my hunt?
Everything you need will be provided. Helicopter, hunting ground, experienced professional pilot, fuel, weapon, ammo, training, safety harness and pigs will all be included as part of our service.
