The Best Spark Plug

I can't believe this, but I accidentally ordered 1 spark plug. That's right, ONE FREAKIN SPARK PLUG. When I opened the package to find my ONE Denso IK20, my first thought was "WHERE ARE THE REST?" I guess tonight's activity won't be changing spark plugs.

Honestly, with the Amazon Prime I order so much crap it's hard to keep track of. But yeah, that was my "oh crap" moment when I saw that amount.

Yes and no.

There is something to be said about the platinum and iridium plugs over copper but having 2, 3 and 4 electrodes? Completely unnecessary, IMO, and if an engine "needs" that in order to run properly then there is another problem elsewhere.

Wait...you mean having 2 electrodes wouldn't make my truck like a 12 cylinder?

Reviving this thread as I am planning on swapping all six plugs in my '06 soon. It seems like Denso iridiums are the way to go, but I am seeing SK20R11 and SK20HR11 available on Amazon, but don't know enough about spark plugs to suss out any differences between the two other than weight (1.6oz vs. 2.1, respectively) and length (3.2" vs. 3.6, respectively). Is there a performance difference?

Then there are the IK20 and IKH20, how are these any different than each other or the SK's? They're all iridium.

Am I just overthinking all of this?

I just changed mine out a few weeks ago. I used Denso 3381 (k20hr-u11) for my 2007 v6. They are standard plugs (non-iridium). I figured the maintenance is every 30k and it only takes an hour of time to change them so why pay more. Amazon price was less then $5 a plug. I did buy the AMPRO T33338 spark plug socket...man was that a great tool, it made it much easier. One of the members of this forum recommended it. I think it cost about $11.00.

Over thinking this? Yes. Factory calls for "regular (copper)" plugs . Nothing fancy. Folks who went ahead and got the expensive plugs find out that the 1GRFE fouls them. Like [MENTION=123627]Forty6and2Ahead[/MENTION] said, it doesn't take long to do. Nothing against those who put in Iridium/expensive plugs, but why install something the factory doesn't call for? (Even with other experience with other plugs).

Interesting information - I didn't realize that there was not a performance difference. Makes me feel better about going from Iridium to Platinum on my last tune-up.

i see what you're saying, but neither of you answered my question. specifically asking about a difference between the iridium plug model numbers.
