The Chinese Special TRD Grille... on the cheap!

I just received mine and have yet to unbox it. However, can someone point me to a video or instructions on how to connect the LEDs? I apologize if it somewhere in this thread, but over 50 pages is lot to look through! Also, I read previously in this thread that you can test the LEDs before installing by touching the harness wires to the positive and negative terminals of the battery. Before I do that, I would like to confirm that it won't end up in a puff of smoke! Thanks for any advice you can give.

No it will be fine. I tested mine that way to ensure they all worked. They simply snap into the grill openings. The smaller diamond shaped openings, not the larger. The black wire you connect to a ground. The red is power that you connect to a fuse. Either the underhood or in the cabin fuse. There are many videos on how to do it. On the cartrim site there is a link to a video from a forum member with install instructions.

What is your order number? You’re saying you ordered the grill and ALL you received was the letters and nothing else? How did you try to get a hold of them...email? Did you check your junk/spam folders?

I’ve helped over 350 people/items come over from CarTrim in the last year. To date, I’ve probably encountered less than eight issues and of those, three were due to the buyer not being available for delivery, not knowing how to use tracking, etc - the others were 100% error on CarTrim.

The odds are in your favor unless you go with some random off eBay or Amazon.

So everyone is aware including OP, I talked to CT and they confirmed this was 100% on them. They are sending out the correct grill Monday morning. They will also be sending you a little extra as a “sorry we made a mistake”. CT also confirmed they got your email yesterday and also replied yesterday so I’m not sure where the communication breakdown or delay was? Regardless you should be set going forward, after you get the grill of course.

vinyl wrap on grill piece?

I see most people on here are painting their new grill piece. I have some satin black 3m vinyl wrap that I thought might work instead. Has anyone wrapped theirs? I'm wondering about the adhesion to plastic and the fade rate compared to paint. If it worked for you, can you offer any tips for wrapping this sort of shape? I have a heat gun, but I've never wrapped anything before, so no built-in skills!

EDIT: After poking around a bit, I think I will go with the Trim Black paint. Apparently, vinyl wraps do not adhere as well to plastics, and will fade more quickly than the paint.

I think you'll be fine. The biggest complaint/hold up is with customs (CarTrim usually ships out the next Business day). Post an update when you get it / get it installed!

I am looking to get this. Do you know if I need the fuse holder which is an additional $6? Also is the light smoke version installation the same as the 4?

You definitely do not need the additional fuse - they include it now. They have two versions of the LED - a regular amber color and a smokey amber. The installation of the actual lights into the grill should be the same regardless of the color - the only difference would be spacing if you get 3 vs 4. Hopefully I understood your question...
