Point 2; the REAL risk of pot being legal. Competition. Lets us all pretend that pot is legal, and it is two years into the future. Cartel no longer supplying it, so the means of distribution are relatively civil. But now you have thousands of Pot farmers trying to sell the general public weed, but they all want to have the sellers edge, so they start making custom blends of pot to give better and longer highs. before long, pot is no longer a natural drug for recreational use, it is a hybrid designer herbal drug. Legislation cannot keep pot safe to use.
Anyone on here who has smoked pot can attest that there is common cheap pot and expensive hybrid pot that can really mess you up. If pot becomes legal to grow and cheaper to buy these hybrids are going to make a much harder impact on a persons ability to function normally. Then arise people baked driving/dieing/and killing on the roads.....now we have an all new enemy on our already dangerous highways
I can see where you're coming from, but you're a little late to the game. We already have numerous cross pollinated species of the original herb that is much stronger. In fact, when I smoked, that is all I would smoke. I was a bit of a snob that way.
The different strands provide different "highs" depending on what you are looking for. The farmers are much more in tune with the biology of it and can control what they are producing to a point where you can have a mellow high or an active high. A body buzz or just a head buzz.
Lets not forget that Botany is a science and supply will follow demand. So, I don't really think that we can get to a point where the organic drug can "get out of hand" until it turns chemical, which will cause most current participants to loose interest in the drug. One benefit of cannabis (that I appreciate) is the ability to be "intoxicated, while maintaining control of oneself
