Everyone just go roll a joint and calm the hell down :smokin:

If the younger generation's answer to any little speed bump in life (e.g. internet "brawl") is to smoke a joint, then my "golden years" is officially fu#ked!

Thai, you do realize that there is a 99.98% chance that every single person in Apple development smokes pot right? How can you argue with the creators of the absolute greatest piece of technology of our time? :fish:

You make a good point above though, these recreations cannot be an answer to a problem....just a recreation. The problem begins when it becomes an answer to problem, or when it becomes habitual. All of your articles assume habitual use well beyond recreation.

Strongly disagree. How is somebody else's consumption of cannabis negatively affecting your lives so badly? If somebody has found a way to solve a problem on their own, in their own reality, without harming others or even themselves for that matter, what do you care? Freedom haters? You know aspirin kills more people than cannabis, right? Also, so does water, and your beliefs hold none.

Well that explains Android subpar development team!! :D

Studies i quoted:

1. one or two marijuana cigarettes 5 days per week
2. heavy marijuana use (1 or more cigarettes per day)
3. 4 d/wk or more (the majority of days in a week)

BTW, the last article is available in FULL text: Persistent cannabis users show neuropsychological decline from childhood to midlife

I don't know...from some of my patients, smoking 1 weed / day is NOT that much! :( I think that most (if not all) weed folks think that 1 weed a day IS recreation!

Read the studies i quoted on page 20.

It isn't about MORTALITY rate that matters...it is about being PRODUCTIVE in society down the road for young kids nowadays smoking weed. Their productivity (or lack of) will impact the older generation's financial well-being.

It is NOT my belief that you have to worry about...it is FACTUAL EVIDENCE that you have to worry about.

I've read plenty of studies to know both sides of the argument, and it will not change my opinion, just as if I were to show you studies arguing pro-cannabis, your opinion most likely will not be swayed. The FACT of the matter is, no matter what is legal, illegal, or how people feel about cannabis, people will and always do find a way to use it. It also effects everybody in different ways, some might be unmotivated, some might be motivated... the same speaks for everything in life. No matter where you go in this world, and what laws are put into effect for or against cannabis, people will be using it. Also, legalization doesn't necessarily insist that more people will be using cannabis, studies seem to suggest otherwise. Marijuana Decriminalization & Its Impact on Use
What I'm getting at is the rates of use aren't really going to change based on legislation, therefore the productivity of the average citizen should not decline, because everyone's doing what they would have done anyways!
If anything, the legalization of cannabis will bring forward the attention of the corrupt prison system and an endless war on freedom. Imprisoning and fining cannabis users may create temporary revenue for certain government departments, but overall the charges and problems that come along with being labeled a criminal for consuming a plant is what does more harm than anything. How is somebody supposed to be a productive member of society when one gets jail time and a felony for possessing a plant? Having such a 'free' country constantly fight your rights to freely consume something that affects nobody else can be a real motivation killer in any situation. That's the real issue here. People legally consume billions of dollars in drugs each year, most sold by pharmaceutical companies that hold a death grip on the current anti-cannabis legislation (why? $$$). Alcohol is also a gigantic market of it's own, and we all know how well prohibition worked out for that... yet people seem to do just fine allowing alcohol to be such a widely used drug. Alcohol is far more harmful than cannabis on all levels, cognitively, physically and yet so widely accepted.

Once you get past the fact that people have choices and needs of their own, you should realize the semantics behind how productive a cannabis user is should not worry you. Ever since you were born and before that, people have been using cannabis and will continue to do so. Some will be motivated and go on to do great thing with their lives, while the others will choose to do nothing. That's a personal choice. So is using a drug. Same with your future, if you don't have the means to financially take care of yourself, then you made some poor choices at one point or another. Relying on others for Social security is a whole other ballpark and while I'd like to go there with you, I am not fond of politics and have more productive things to do.

I am only talking about medical aspect of it. Whether it is legalized or not is up to politicians and their respective pockets.

As for my future, I am quite secure. But how many are like me? How many are like most elderly folks now? Let's be realistic.

Feel free to post relevant medical studies.

You clearly stated that it's about the motivation, I address that and now it's about the medical aspect. What is your agenda in this whole topic? I'm guessing you make good checks from big Pharma companies in prescribing their drugs to people that only hide symptoms of issues instead of addressing the root cause.
I'm not going to hold your hand in researching how medically beneficial cannabis is. The studies are there, just as you posted some stating the negatives. Only researching the con-side of things creates what we call a bias. Equally researching both sides creates education. Also, cannabis is most medically beneficial in it's raw form, not smoked or heated. It is also the most widely used, under researched drug on the planet. New studies come out very often and are sometimes found to be contradictory to studies even just a few years old. Reacting quickly and decisively isn't always the best thing in the case of something so convoluted. Cannabis is definitely something to be researched more, and having a negative attitude towards the research of something so enigmatic only holds back the progression of what we truly do understand about this plant.
I am not trying to change anybody's mind on what they think about cannabis, but I do question why people tend to criticize something that does not affect their lives in any way. That's the amazing thing about humans, they have the right to make choices. Don't like cannabis? Don't take it. Nobody's blowing hits in your face and forcing their lifestyle upon you.

That's your documentation? Youtube videos? C'mon man.

I am speaking for myself but I'm sure Thai and others agree there are distinct benefits of weed for SPECIFIC MEDICAL APPLICATIONS. Nobody is arguing that.

Now, the legalization of weed is purely politics, nothing more nothing less. Comparing it to alcohol is pretty stupid too because guess what: Alcohol is legal from a federal standpoint and weed is not. Right or wrong that's just the way it is right now.
Thai cited medical studies (real live documents, not youtube videos) that show the harmful effects of smoking weed regularly over time. If a person has a medical condition that could benefit from weed then a DOCTOR would weigh the risks and benefits and prescribe accordingly. Smoking it just to get high is something else entirely.

There are risks and benefits to just about everything in life. Alcohol is good for certain conditions in certain amounts. Too much is bad. Same with pot. Same with doughnuts. Same with soft drinks. Hell, the same with water!

So get off your high horse about smoking pot just to get high. Anyone with half a brain knows too much of anything is bad. Right now they are just figuring out how much is too much.

Huh?! Assuming much?

You think that YOUTUBE videos have no agenda?!

EDIT: Are you seriously ignorant to think that doctors (in general) or the field of medicine is about prescribing drugs to people to HIDE symptoms instead of addressing the root cause????? Are you fukking kidding me?! Seriously, how old are you to think this?
