So 8500 miles later and the Runner is still going strong. No real upgrades since my last post, just being a daily driver pretty much.

Got a new battery the other day, and the day after that my old one died. The new one's an Optima Gel battery, and I have never had a car start so easily!

Got the brakes done about a month ago.

Also, I have been smelling an oil burn lately. Took a look at the head... saw the leak, tightened the bolts, and now it is burning off the residue! Soon I'll have a stink free car, and I don't have to add oil any more!

Still have yet to do the timing belt. Just started working as a manager again at work so I'll have some spare cash to get it done here soon.

After that- I will start saving for a lift, new tires, and some sliders! Super stoked.

Well, after stalking the forum for some time, I figure it is now time to buckle down and write up an update post.

Running boards off yet? Nope.
Timing Belt/Water Pump changed yer? Nope.
Lift, larger tires, anything else yet? Nope.

Hahaha.

Just got a new job. Fulltime, pay is good, lots of opportunities for overtime. So soon, my friends, soon.

Just priced the parts for my timing belt/water pump maintenance. $460 just for the parts (including tensioner, assembly, pulley, seals, idler, belt, and pump)!! Yayy.

I am going to take care of that, and then in a few months I will hopefully have enough cash to get my 2.5" OME lift from Slee. I also want to do the Tundra brake upgrade.

In the meantime I plan to take on the awesome Deckplate Mod and clean my MAF.

Oh! I also purchased a T4R.ORG sticker and strategically placed it on my rear window, bottom right, so I can see it from where I sit at work It's RED.

Shoot Scotty an e-mail ---> [email protected] and ask him where he got the parts for the timing belt he did last week. The parts were all OEM and I think the price was a little less than half that. He'll be happy to help you out.

Update, anyone?

Some pretty decent changes since my last post.

Yes, I finally took off my running boards! I will be keeping them off for a test run to see if my door panels sustain any damage from debris being thrown from my tires. If I start to see or hear that, they are going right back on.

I also traded wheels with my dad. He found a clean set of FJ steelies with Dunlop tires. I'm stoked, I love how they look, and I'm loving the gas mileage and smooth ride. I'll keep the Dunlops through the summer and then buy some new Duratracs or Toyo MTs to fit these new wheels.

I'm just over 176k miles now. My new commute has put on so many miles, it's insane. :/

Looking forward to having my timing belt/water pump done (FINALLY) next pay period.

After that- SLIDERS!

And at some point I'll be buying a deckplate... whenever I get around to it.

Major maintenance done!! Finally!!

While super sick with this crazy cold bug, my dad took advantage of my car being home and did all the work for me. I am so blessed and so thankful (I'm paying new puppy vet bills in exchange for the labor haha).

I'm so relieved to finally be able to drive my car and not be concerned. I was right to be before- the old timing belt had a significant crack and wasn't going to last much longer, and the water pump had a slow leak.

Finally got a K&N High Flow Air Filter tonight. Also changed my taillight bulbs. It's nice to finally be able to catch up on all of those things that fell to the wayside recently.

Up next! An alignment. Whoo!

Can't wait to knock out everything on this list and get going on some mods!!

Finally got the wheels I've been wanting since I bought this truck nearly 2 years ago.

American Racing Mojave Chrome wheels

Paid about half of retail to a guy replacing them with [what he thought were] nicer wheels. Couldn't have been a better fit for me either- the exact size I needed for the tires I've got (cheap street tires for commmuting). I'll be going out and getting some awesome pictures of my new wheels tomorrow, hopefully

Other updates: I have valve cover gaskets and spark plug o-rings on order. It's definitely time to have the brakes done again. I'll be replacing my lower ball joints as soon as my dad digs out the new lbj's from the shed. Once that's all finished, I'll have the alignment done. At some point, I'll be getting my old, original, pitted windshield replaced too hahaha.

Looks good! At least you didnt get any of the wheels on that rack in the background!

Great start with the ARB. I use to have the mojave's but in alloy and with the simulated bead locks. They were 17's though and not the right hub center. I think they looked awesome, just couldn't stand riding on lug centric spacers so I ditched them.

Hahaha exactly! The whole shop was full of 5-lug 20-24" chrome wheels. It was fairly disgusting!

But, have to deal to get a deal- this shop charged me $60 to dismount tires from old wheels, mount to new wheels, balance, and install new valve stems. America's Tire wanted $140! Also, I don't mind supporting a small business haha (even if he tends to supply all the gaudy wheels to the neighborhood!)

I have been looking for wheels exactly like these for almost 2 years (for the right price). Just stumbled upon them yesterday. Very excited.
