no damage has been reported, and if in fact they had been repainted, they did one HELL of a job, it's flawless in matching the original, it's very clean, and no overspray of any sort, I highly highly doubt any repainting occured, and they seemed to go away after the first round of rubbing compound, I didn't follow up w/ polsihing compound, and think thats where I screwed up. I may invest in full detail, either myself, or bring it somewhere. oh well, back to square one. thanks for everyones input, will keep you posted.

haha, yeah, the truck is sound as a pound, I honestly don't think it's been painted, could it be some type of clear coat to make it shine? I did find some clear type residue on the taillight, I wasn't too pleased, but with a fine tooth comb I went over the truck and it's mint, I'd be hard pressed to believe it was painted, or touched up.

As another poster mentioned; if you have a fingerprint as you described in your paint, that panel has more than likely be resprayed. This happens from time to time do to minor damage in transit whether it be before it left port or arrived at port or the rail yard or dealer; it's been resprayed. IF trying the wetsand approach, and I would use 2500-3000 grit; let the paper soak for an hour then hit the spot lightly in a cross direction for several minutes. Follow up immediately with a light cutting polish to remove the sanding marks then seal or wax the area. If after a few washes you see them re-appear; they are under the clear coat in which case a strip & re-paint of that panel will be in order. I had this happen on my Acura TL after I took delivery on a door panel. The dealer fixed it after I acknowledged I would no longer have a 'factory' finish on the car. But it drove me nuts knowing it was there until they fixed it.
