I've been active member for a while now, but really have spent better part of a year just reading "sticky's", DIY articles, and keeping up with many "builds" on here.

Now I'm starting my Revival...... maybe not really a build, but refreshing and doing few after market things on her.

I bought the car stock year and half ago with 160,000 miles.
Im now at 170k.

2015 - Work done
Remote start
2016 4Runner 17" wheels and tires

2016 - Work done/Planned

Engine
New Battery
New Alternator
New Valve Cover Gaskets
New PCV
New water pump
New timing belt
New Spark plugs
New Spark plug wires
New full Fuel pump delivery unit

Suspension/Brakes
Tundra brake calipers and rotor upgrade
New Lower control arms
New lower ball joints
New outer tie rods
New front sway bar links
Sonoran steel full suspension kit (7.2)

Wheels/Tires
Level 8 MK6 16" -10 offset
General Grabber AT2 - 285 /75 R16

Body/exterior
The red paint is starting to oxidize, so trying to still research the approach I want to take.

Feb - 2017 how she sits

New year, new parts!

Not sure if I'm going to use these yet....

Past few days, started tackling the new engine parts and the suspension kit.

As it sits right now, engine work mostly done, and suspension is tackled. Only the front though.

Luckily I bought the T4R from original owner and it came from California. So I was thankful to not have to deal with any rust. Sprayed PB blaster and let sit for few hours and nothing really gave me any trouble.
The old....

Only PITA i really encountered, was not being aware of having to unbolt the Rack/Pinion so I could remove the cam/bolt from the lower control arms.

How she sits currently and good comparison of before/after

I spy with my little eye, a Moog ball joint. I highly suggest OEM only on those (as do many others). They really are different and better ... And won't fail in 10-20k miles.

Good catch Phatty

Return the Moog's and get OEM, there is no compromise on the LJB's, it just has to be that way.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I didn't know there was a negative to these LBJ's. I some what copied what a friend did with their 3rd Gen.

Luckily LBJ's are easy to replace, so no sweat there.

Any of you guys have link to a good Toyota OEM supplier site?

This type info is exactly why I wanted to start sharing.

Camelback Toyota seems to have the best prices

When I bought my OEM LBJ's, Amazon was actually the cheapest once you factored in shipping. It wasn't a huge difference, maybe, 5 bucks or so and I got them in a couple days.

I checked at camelback and they want 113 per LBJ with shipping, on Amazon it's 102 with free shipping.

When I ordered mine it was free shipping over $90

It's free shipping with *most orders over $150 right now. We'll assume it is free shipping but Amazon is still a little cheaper, granted only by a couple bucks.

Either way OP, just make sure you get OEM LBJ's.

All looks good but not the lower ball joints (MUST be OEM) and lower control arms (aftermarket fails stripping the rivets holding the arm to lower ball joints).

Looks great! I really like that you took a picture with your new wheels/tires and your old ones. You get a great idea on the difference.

LBJs ARE an easy replacement, but because they are in tension(vs compression), they can fail catastrophically. Google "3rd gen LBJ failure" and enjoy the pics [emoji51][emoji43][emoji15]
There is a good thread on here where someone very knowledgeable goes into detail of the construction differences in OEM vs aftermarket. The MOOG are metal on metal from the beginning, and it's not worth the risk to save a few bucks here.

REALLY love your rig too btw [emoji41]
That wheel color is amazing with the lower cladding color.

Keeping an eye on this. Just bought a '96 SRS that needs some love to get back in the game. I like the direction you're heading!

Just don't tell us that the paint is oxidizing. We can never tell by pictures how good the paint is on these rigs. Lie to me, Bam. Lie to me. It's a beautiful truck, I look forward to seeing where it ends up.

I wish I could lie.
Car came from California from last owner, and its not doing so well in this Texas sun/heat.

Plan is to look into paint correction, new paint job, etc soon.
It's oxidized on hood and along the edge of the roof line.

Well guys no more sag. Finished the rear lift install today.

It was a pain in the ass , but I prevailed.

Plan to get some better pics soon.
Was kind of bummed my fronts are barely catching the running board/inner well.

I wanted to keep the running boards until I found a replacement, as my little ones will have trouble climbing in and out.

Some pics of progress
