So why not drive it? Do you just store the 4runner or do you have a garage full of your favorite cars? Don't get me wrong, 4runners are cool but it's not like theyre a rare or exotic machine that needs to be stored. Just my opinion...

Actually, a pristine 1st gen 4runner is extremely rare and exotic! If I had one like that I wouldn't drive it either, hehe.

Yes,but monetary value it's worth maybe a little more than when it was brand new but it would be cool to have one in such great shape but if I had it it would see a couple thousand miles each summer.........on-road.

The first Gen Runners are coming up in value fast,
Especially when they are in the condition the Op's 85 is.
I had my eye on an Ebay action that an 87 was offered up for bid on last week.
Bidding hit $8,200 and reserve was not met. The truck was very clean had 192k on the odometer, and needed paint.
I think that the first gen will defiantly see double digit values in the next few years and may get as collectable as it’s big brother, the Land Cruiser
My 88 daily driver, she gets a lot of looks going down the road
