A while back I had a shop replace my front XREAS because I wasn't planning on modding the truck as heavily as I decided to. I immediately noticed a weird ringing and clunk. I took it back to STS who had replaced the shocks, numerous times and they couldn't figure it out, neither could I. I then noticed the shock top not wasn't compressing the bushings, though it was tightened all the way to the end of the threads. I took it back, they got the top bushings sorted out and tightened it down.
Truck rode fine, though I still occasionally noticed the clunk going over bumps. Took it back, they said it was fine. They messed up something and a few months ago my new XREAS with 15k on it was leaking like a sieve. I replaced it with my current 5100s and Eibach springs and ditched the front sway. I noticed a much better ride.
I finally got around to investigating the old coil overs and this is what I discovered:
The shocks were assembled the wrong way and two bushings were placed on top of the top hat and no spring retainer was used, so sthe shock was bouncing around inside the top hat and eroded a portion or it. I know that I had posted about this in the suspension thread and was talking to [MENTION=44866]ARK_SWAMP_RIDER[/MENTION] & [MENTION=98468]BigNuge[/MENTION] amongst others about it, but I finally solved the mystery of this front end clunk.
Needless to say, the truck will never be seeing that shop again.

I've had my suspension for 10 months now, or around that, but have yet to install it.
