Could we get some answers to posts #47 & 48. I would appreciate it.And what is the total weight of the 3/4 rack?

what's the weight difference between the aluminum and steel ruggedized roof cross bars? is the weight limit the same? do they come with hardware? I was really close to pulling the trigger on rago cross bars, but I like the aluminum idea much better and that look to have more clearance between the bottom of the bar and the top of the roof.

I would like to know the difference also. I’m thinking about the Rago crossbars and was considering the Prinsu until I heard about many quality issues. What is the total weight of the LFD 3/4 rack in aluminum as compared to steel? What type of wind noise does this rack produce and is there any clearance problem with a sunroof? Also, any measurable difference in gas mileage? TIA

Hey guys, regarding the wind noise, that appeared when we switched the design from mounting holes on top to the slots. The noise does seem to go away if you have something bolted to the crossbar, only really seems to appear when empty. Even just installing a bolt with some washers is enough sometimes to cut the noise down.

We are working on some prototype bolt on farings that will work with the stock roof rail setup. They're currently enroute to a few customers for further testing, and if everything is good we'll release them for production very soon.

We didn't want to go back to the holes because we feel the slots offer so much more flexibility in mounting accessories.

Looking forward to seeing the faring for crossbars on stock rails. That might require me to spend some money.

They've been out at our powder coater now for two weeks. They should be back next week. We're actively working on switching to a new powder coating vendor to help speed up the process and improve delivery.

We're actually discontinuing the 3/4, only keeping the 7/8 and full. The 3/4 just didn't make a lot of sense when compared to the 7/8, it was very similar in length.

The aluminum crossbars weigh 1.5 pounds versus 5 pounds for steel. The main advantage is no rusting as the powder gets scratched and worn with use.

What’s the lead time on the complete 7/8 roof rack? This seems like such a better deal for $629 as it comes with eight crossbars.

The redesigned slotted version. So far I've reached up to 50mph with no noticable wind noise if you're curious.

Three to seven weeks is pretty accurate right now. The big variable has been powder coating turn around, they're taking anywhere from one to five weeks. We're actively working on securing a new powder coating vendor at the moment to improve turn around.

We did get a ton back from powder coating this morning, all orders through roughly the end of December should be shipping out this week.

Busy day at the laser as well, ran about 250 more crossbars today.
