The LFD Off Road Thread

I have never had any communication issues with LFD. The Trail crossbars have been running strong these past few months with a RTT on them.

I will say there are times it takes us a few days to get back to all the messages. This week has been bad, I've been out with the flu, so we're short in the office. Been answering messages from home today since I'm finally getting out of the NyQuil haze.

Also, i was wondering how strong the crossbars are. Can you stand on them with no issue?

I would want to put a rtt on it but i am guessing to get it unzipped etc i would need to walk on the rack.

Not at the moment until we can get the backlog caught up some.

Steel are definitely strong enough to stand on with zero issue. Aluminum will deflect some if all your weight is on one crossbar.

I was able to reach everything on my RTT without standing on the rack, but I do often stand on the rack for other reasons.

Hybrid Bumper

I really like the winch access on the new hybrid bumper. Two questions:
1. Will the bumper fit a Superwinch Tigershark? The pics I’ve seen appear to have a Warn Zeon installed. The control on the Superwinch is side mounted and I can’t tell if it will interfere with the AC or power steering line more than the center control on the Warn.

2. Will I be able to insert anything - like a rubber mat - or install a cover to keep slush at bay for winter highway driving? We’ve seen exposed winches get slushy enroute to a recovery that were then frozen solid when needed. In other bumpers, shoving in a cheap plastic mat does the trick. Think that will work?

I'm sorry if this already in here, I didn't read every single post. What is the height of the rack from the roof? Am I seeing pictures right that the bottom of the rails is higher than the sat antenna?

Picked up the full rack on Friday from Jacob. Installed yesterday. Love the rack. It’s stout and looks great. I’ve had both the Baja and Gobi Stealth. I like this one as much as the Stealth. You can see in the pics I just couldn’t handle the shiny bolt heads. So, just masked them off and hit them with some self-etching primer. Next will be a coat of regular primer then topcoat of black. I should have painted them beforehand but I wasn’t sure if they’d bother me. Anyway, great rack LFD.

No experience with a Superwinch Tigershark, but I know it fits a Engo XR10 which is a pretty big winch compared to my Engo SR10.

There is enough clearance to get a cover on or put a mat in, I've used one of the neoprene winch covers for testing.

About 5". The crossbars do clear the shark fin antenna.

We do finally have a line on some stainless bolts, we're working on getting a quote for them now. This new supplier still doesn't have access to black though in a quality bolt.

Are any of you guys having any issues with powdercoating and rust on the steel crossbars? I've had mine since June and they're looking rough on the edges.
