What's cracking, folks. I finally (after years, might I add) found a reliable, high quality photo upload method that is easy and convenient (Flikr), and wanted to not only share some of my avian / nature shots from over the years, but start a thread where others can "drop theirs while they're hot" as well.

Without further ado... Let the pictures commence.
Please show me up, I know you guys take lotsa photos!

So yeah, mostly birds. My gramps was a pro and some of the expeditions we went on were legendary. Definitely taught me a thing or two about waiting for the right moment and soaking it all in!
Nonetheless, the places my Runners have taken me have definitely attributed to what I get out of the outdoors.

Moral of the story - get outside and keep your eyes peeled.

Awesome stuff.

As a barely amateur kaleidoscope snapper, I find the eye to see the potential, the patience to wait for it to acquiesce, and then the ability to edit the 589 photos of the same image sequence to select the best one, to all be a magical talent I do not yet possess.

Until then, I will continue to marvel at the works others capture. Thank you.

Sometimes all it takes is being in the right place st the right time! You can dooooo it

Thanks. This was taken on the James River in Virginia. I believe the fish is a Gizzard Shad.

Gotcha, makes more sense. Might be... Although it's pretty colored up and has pretty low eyes for the shad family. Maybe someone else can chime in and confirm! Awesome picture anyways.

It could be, I'm no expert when it come to fish. I know they run in the Newport News area of the James every spring and the Osprey clean up over several weeks in this location. Here is a better shot of the same fish.

Thanks very much! Yes, that is my site. What were you researching if you don't mind me asking?

I live on the coast of the South Carolina low country and was researching the name "Fish Hawk" which is of course an Osprey which we have a lot of here and how they came to be given the name and as with any research one thing lead to another, clicking on photos here and there I got more involved in the photos, one of which was your's which lead me to your website and when I saw your Osprey above it looked familiar so I had to search again to find your site to see if it was indeed one of your photos I had seen during my research.

I find it a bit ironic that little bit of curious researching lead me to your site and find out many months later you're a member here at this forum..., hmmm as Forrest Gump said.."....Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna to get"!!! LOL

Very cool it's a small world. Osprey are a fascinating and unique bird of prey. You never know where your photos will end up. I haven't check it in years but there's a way you can see who is coming to the site and follow a link back to various other sites and I would find my photos on all kinds of obscure sites in Asia and Europe etc.
