I think I am really liking the Outer Banks version to replace my ORP. Auto climate control, auto LED headlights, remote start, and hopefully cooled seats.
Bronco is built on the global midsize truck platform, ie...the new Ranger. The 4 door version is very much a competitor to the 4Runner. I would definitely consider it if I was shopping for a new 4Runner.
The CV axles must be pretty beefy to offer a front locker. Bilstein TRD Pro-like shocks as an option for all trim levels is nice. Too bad the sway bar disconnect is only offered on the Badlands ($$$$).
The KDSS sway bar has been impressive off road, and fantastic on road, I don't have FOMO from the lack of sway bar disconnects. The fact that you can stuff 35's from the factory....that one hurts. So lame you have to do a body chop mount for just 33's.
Haven't been a fan of the maintenance for forced-inducted engines....but I guess that's the way the future's going, Toyota included. At least you get a flat torque curve with the EcoBoost engines.
What is "no". It's not a competitor to the 4Runner?
I meant that while it's built off the global platform there's probably so many changes to the suspension, electronics, interior, infotainment, and powertrain that it's basically a new US market vehicle. In fact no plans or announcements for it to even be released globally. So I'm not sure how much it has it common with the global platforms other than the frame.
As far as it being a 4R competitor I'd say it is. If I was in the market I'd cross shop the two and will likely do so when the 6th gen comes out.
I love Toyota, but they have always been a bottom line driven company.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't the new Bronco nothing more than a Land Rover defender with different plastic attached? The side profile and model wheelbases look identical.
If it has anything in common with any Land Rover product, it is just going to be a massive unreliable, non-functioning failure. Ford and Land Rover are not known for their electrical system reliability. More vehicle electrical fires are from Fords than all other makes combined.
Yep. EVERY company that is successful is bottom-line driven. Heck, I'm bottom-line driven. I expect to be paid well for the hours and labor I provide in exchange. If that isn't the case, I'll trot off to somewhere better. It's basic human nature, but it's often politicized in a bad light so that the big corporations appear evil.Toyota is a for-profit company, not a charity organization. They have investors and shareholders that expect a return on their investment. You think Ford, Chevy, or any other car-maker is going to ignore the "bottom line" in favor of catering to a small niche in the market?
The used Land Cruiser ;-)So...Ford Bronco 1st Edition costs around $60k.
LR Defender very well loaded with goodies costs around $70k.
So, for fun, which would you get since price is similar?
