The official 16" and 17" factory Al wheel thread.

I'm looking to gather information on the various wheels offered by the factory, in the 16 and 17" diameters. 15" tires are going the way of the Dodo, and anything larger than 17" is a performance degrader, and just bling.

I will update this post with information as it comes in. Please feel free to correct me if I use the incorrect term for a given wheel. And also if I have missed any factory offerings.

What I'm really looking for is wheel weight, offset and backspacing for each individual model. Wheel weight is very important for a suspension to respond properly. Lighter is better, and the Porsche engineers have said that rotating/unsprung weight is 7x as important to performance as is unsprung weight. Obviously you don't want to make wheels too light or they won't be durable enough, especially offroad, but all the Toyota wheels seem to be of high quality.

16" Split three spoke.

Fourth photo down is the SR5 5 spoke aluminum wheel that came with the Sport package in 2001-2002 and is more commonly referred to as the "coke bottle". It was also offered on the Limited.

Not sure what the purpose of this thread is.

The purpose as stated is to get the specs on each wheel, and post it in a convenient way for folks to get the info.

Thanks for the link. I didn't use OEM as a search filter, so I missed that one. Although there is some good info in there, it's mostly 15 pages of glamour shots, which is fine if people just going for a look, but I want to know what the specs are on the various options. If people knew what the backspacing, width, and offset were, then maybe they wouldn't have to keep asking about rub issues.

Is that one confusion for each of my first three paragraphs, or are you triple confused?
