The reason why Non-Xreas takes on ramps better than Xreas.

On and off ramps are a lot more stable now that I have removed XREAS and installed the B5100's (stock SE springs).

Reason being, when you take an on or off ramp and there are imperfections in the road and bumps. With Xreas the system is "locked out" when you go into a turn and as a result we get a "jumpy" feel from the suspension.

If you have Xreas and want a more comfortable ride get rid of it.

Id agree to this, i just recently ditched my XREAS. Feels a lot more responsive and drives a ton better.

I like my xreas, but i also did upgrade my rubber bushings to urathane, it was better for me, stiffer. But i also have wider tires and some 250 lb plus in the back from 15s and extra battery.

I like my XREAS for going on twisty roads and like even more now that I added the FJ springs all around. Only bad part for XREAS is that it's not short for off road.

XREAS only really designed for on-road application right? Kind of silly that the Sport versions have this when you would expect to go off road more.

How are the FJ springs? How much stiffer are the spring rates over stock? Adding stiffer springs would just minimize the effects of the XREAS to some degree. I'm curious to how much better it rides. Got the Sport version so xreas as well - I don't know that I would like to remove it though. I don't plan to do a lot of really aggressive off-roading.

If it still works leave it. I removed mine because it was already leaking. Replaced with the billies and FJ springs and it feels just as good or better than when my XREAS was working. Plus gave me a couple of inches more clearance...

I haven't noticed any leaks - but I really haven't spent much time looking at the suspension on this car yet. I think that's the plan though - keep it til it fails

When it goes out are people removing the whole setup or just removing the shocks and leaving the lines in place?

You can do this apparently only once. A second time you have to replace the whole system (lines/pumps). This according to a Toyota dealer.

I also like my XREAS, I recently had all four shocks replaced. I expect them to last about 100K miles.

The FJ springs damps out the bumps more and feels stiffer. With just XREAS and original springs, the 4Runner has a plush feel like a "Cadillac." Adding the FJ springs made a big difference in handling.

haha - one guy says its soft like a caddy the other says back killing stiffness!!

I personally think it feels kind of soft - but does handle better in tight turns than i expected it would.

Wife and I test drove a Limited w/Xreas and a SR5 without when shopping for our T4R over five years ago. We were concerned Xreas would result in a harsher ride. Not true. The only real difference we could detect was that the Xreas version cornered much better with less leaning. We opted for the Limited w/Xreas and love it. :thumb:

That's the same reason I am keeping XREAS on my Sport Edition. It handles exceptionally well in twisty roads.
