The Red Runner Front Bumper Build

So the time as come to start the front bumper build. I took off work this whole week to try and get it knocked out as quick as possible. I'm using the leftovers from my rear bumper build. Hoping to get the mounts done and it at least mocked up today if not starting to cut material. I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself though just because I know doing the mounts may take me a while

Not super exciting, but I got my mount constructed. Should be enough daylight left to start figuring out the rest of the bumper.

Obviously got some trimming to do in the morning. Don't have as good of a plan for the mounts in the front as I did on the rear.

Doesn't look like much progress, but this piece actually took a while to template and then cut and get right. I wanted to get this done first so that I would have something more solid to attach the rest of my cardboard template to. Hopefully the rest should start to fall in place. I'm helping a friend move tomorrow, so we'll see how far I get....

To say it's a lot of work is a bit of an understatement. I would really only suggest doing it if you have plenty of time and also enjoy doing projects like that.

I can only imagine since I lack the skills in the creativity and fabrication department. As much as I like the stock 4runners, the custom built bumper and slider threads are some of my favorite ones to go through. It's cool to see a confusing pile of metal turn into the final product. Appreciate you (& the others) sharing the process.

Planning to mount my license plate, d-ring mounts and some aux lights on the front panel. I'm planning to reuse the stock turn signal lights (hopefully).

Edit: Grooming the stock turn signal lights was a pain in the butt, but I think it will pay off, I think it looks pretty good right now.

I like the look of the stock turn signals integrated into your bumper. Would be cool to see that option on more armored bumpers.

I thought about going with aftermarket, but honestly I was worried about VA state inspection and also didn't wanna have to worry about any electrical grimlins. If I keep them stock I should be able to keep my electrical issues to a minimum and to non critical systems.

You can! Buy a cheap used 220 mig and just start playing around, you'd be surprised what you can do

At this point in time, no. I think if I ever decided I want one/it's necessary, I can always go back and cut a little bit of steel and integrate one

You don't even need that. I'm using a harbor freight flux core machine. Cost me 100 bucks.

All tacked together. Time to drop it down and weld it up! Still need to add my d-rings, aux lights and license plate holes too.
