the Rescue Runner build thread

Wow Isaac. Love the surprise on the tires. Truck is looking deadly with the new kicks! So happy you went with the silver and those snow wheeling shots are great. I'm sure Vin will be proud.

i have a couple pics im not releasing yet until he gets them first... its hard for me to think outside the box sometimes... i can be such a perfectionist that i block myself... but i have a couple of pics that he will get to "release"

update, so i got a call today from my insurance co, the were willing to cut me a check for $2150 for the damages to my truck from being hit in the rear... well after looking into the estimate a little they left a few things out of it some i declined the check and told the claims adjuster that i want a couple other bids because i dont feel the frist shop covered everything thoroughly enough... she said ok and would not print off the check and would wait till she had the other more complete estimates before writing the check. so in the next few weeks ill have a CBI hybrid full swing out, fold down table, dual jerry can holder, telescoping light pole ect on the way for my rig. im just happy they are not denying this claim like they have done all the others in the past.

I've been a lurker on the forum for some time now but haven't posted much. I absolutely love your rig, very tasteful in my opinion. Your house also looks amazing, so do those trails! Keep it up man, you are an inspiration to guys just starting like myself.

so the other night i got my CBI hybrid bumper and installed it. i love this thing! it fits perfectly and was a breeze to put on. i had a couple of friends help me as its more awkward than heavy. it only took a couple of hours, but thats because you have to assemble the components like the swing arm and the fuel can holders and the lamp pole and spare tire carrier. but i like that the height of the tire carrier is adjustable. the fit and finish of the bumper is superb! i ordered the "no flare/chrome moldings" fender option for width, and its perfect fitment IMO for the SR5 black flares. its flush with those. the hardest part of this was taking off the old bumper, but i did this the night before. the hardware they supply with this bumper is great too, it comes with small lenghts of rod welded to them so that it gives you the reach to hold them in place as your mount everything up and tighten it down. i can not say enough good things about CBI, their products are superb, well fitting functional and above all else look amazing! the only thing id say or sugest is maybe label the bags for the hardware, and or separate them a little more for their specific use. i think i got them all in the right spots but it took a little trial and error to get things right. some simple instructions might help with this.
CBI OffRoad Fab, you have an amazing product and know what you guys are doing, keep it up!

Looks nice Isaac, my first thought was "5lbs of shit in a 10lb sack." lol. This bumper matches the rest of your truck much better than the stocker.

Man, I gotta make sure you have your camera with you the next time I'm around. I need some poser shots. :) Maybe after the sliders are on?

Awesome pics bro! Thanks for the props, we are glad to hear your install went smoothly and that you are happy with our product. That's a great lookin' Runner.

Separating the hardware is a great suggestion. Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy that bumper.

Truck looks great with the new swingout. Been thinking of getting the CBI Hybrid front when the budget allows, and your raving review is making my decision a bit easier.

Looking good. The functionality of this as an SAR vehicle is one thing that is so interesting to me. Everything has it's purpose.

Keep up the good work!

welp this week i bit the bullet and bought a new alternator. i thought my stock original(280+k mi) one was on its way out, but nope, it was just a broken wire... well i got a new plug from Toyota the yesterday with the pinned wires to go with it, and i will be repairing the old plug and installing a GM cs144 alt at that time. this alternator can be found is a lot of mid to late 90s GM cars and trucks, like Caprices(police cars), Cadilacs, tow trucks, ambulances and others. the alt i bought was not just a stock cs144 though, it was a high output variant of it, producing a health 170amps and can be upgraded to make over 200amps with very little work, the stock version puts out about 140amps. the stock Toyota alt puts out 80-85amps... i figure that should be enough to keep all my lights and winch going along with my stereo(deck, speakers, sub and amp running it all). i also have plans to get a fridge and large -probably 2500+w inverter in the future as well as a trailer build i will be starting on next year when i return home from my upcoming deployment. anyhow the alt swap is pretty much a direct swap, there are some small little things you will need to do. first off the mounting ears on the cs144 are shorter than the toyota denso alts, so you will need a spacer of sorts, basic bolt washers will work for this, and some people say you need a shorter belt, others say the stock belt will work. im not sure on belt length so i cant comment as of yet but as soon as i install i will post up the results, the other thing is the pulley is different, the stock GM alt is a 6 rib design, but the Toyota is only a 4, so you will need the belt all the way back on the pulley closest to the alt. the alt i ordered already came with the Toyota style pulley as i told them my application was a Toyota 3.4l 5vze motor, so im hoping i will not need any thing extra other than the washers. the other thing i bought was a wire harness adapter to go from the Toyota plug to the GM so its 100% plug and play, plus i can revert back to stock in the case that i would need to or it was all i had available at the time. one of the reasons i went with this alt is it was actually less money than a OE replacement remaned alt from napa, that wasnt even a denso and was made in mexico. this cs144 is brand new, not remaned, and is made in the USA, also there is no core charge on them.
