They are a ton of work and a big hole to throw money at but boy are they fun once running right. I'm sure you have done your research but I'll add my $.02 as well. Rotor packs of the 1st gen and 2nd gen are the same so there isn't a difference in power output. That said the 2nd gen usually comes with a dynamic belt tensioner which is awesome.
If possible aim for the 7th injector kits too. Way easier to tune with a piggy back fuel controller. I did the full URD 6 injector kit and it has been a tuning nightmare from the beginning.
TRD claim that with the stock pulley you don't need any fuel upgrades - I say false. My SC with a stock pulley pushed my AFR to an 18 in the higher RPM's. The 3.4 is a tank but even it wouldn't put up with that lean of environment for long. You can tune it with just a stand-alone Water/Meth kit. I use a Snow Performance kit that has worked flawlessly for years. If you end up pulling the trigger on one I'm happy to turn wrenches anytime.
