Yeah I'm watching it... If I wasn't facing serious budget cuts I'd be more serious and buy the 2nd gen for $2k and the 7th inj kit on eBay right now...

welp i just stopped by my local toyota dealer... one of the guys there gave me some insider info on a potential job there, and with my job being very very uncertain here in the coming weeks(federal budget cuts pretty much eliminating the military funeral honors program) i am looking for other work, and this might just by it. i passed up this position about a 6months ago to take a full time active duty job with the military funeral honors program thinking it would last longer... well this time im gonna go for the job at toyota. if i do get this i will be buying a brand new SC as well as some other parts i have been putting off.

just bought a AEM high flow fuel pump, as my stock pump is going out... i thought about getting the stock OE denso pump to replace it, but after talking with a couple people about also considering the walbro 190 pump(in anticipation for future SC i was recommended i should go with a Areomotive stealth pump, then while doing some research on them we found out that they make the AEM pumps, and the AEM pump is about 1/3 the cost. the Areomotive pumps are just as reliable as the Denso units and roughly the same price, though they do move a lot more fuel... long story short i bought a pump for a supra for under $100 that should provide more than enough fuel for the future.
it should be here saturday and i can replace my dying pump and have a once again reliable vehicle.

not a good idea. running the wrong temp stat can mess with fueling.
also, if its overheating, it will still overheat, just the stat will open sooner.
use the correct stat, and address the cooling system IF there is a problem.

well the 160* is a toyota thermostat... so it is the "correct" one, its a dealer part. and that did fix my issue, i have to work at it to see over 210* now, i mean work at it, drive it hard in city traffic, pulling a load, climbing a grade and full throttle ect all with the AC on full. the 160* thermostat will not affect cooling issue, it will not cause the truck to run in loop or anything like that. the part was developed by toyota to help with the pre-ignition associated with the SC install on tacomas and 4runners.
-the cooling system is fine, radiator is only 2 years old, water pump is around 1 year old, coolant was flushed 2 months ago and filled with toyota red. hoses replaced ect. the issue was/is the fact that my winch control box and lights cover a good portion of my radiator along with my dual trans coolers, and now that i have the AC working again that creates even more heat... and with no place for that heat to go it builds up in the motor. so putting hood vents in, and running a cooler thermostat to keep temps generally lower its working fine. i see temps from around 170-190 on average depending on driving style, load, type of driving and air temps outside. -even driving down the fwy at 75mph at night i dont drop below 170*. that is NOT too cold
