we build roof racks, the two that have been on my runner. we are still working on getting the design down and finding the "right" strength - weight ratio, before we officially market and release them. we also are looking into other things as well, such as bumpers, and sliders. but one thing at a time. it a ton more work than i thought. working in the shop is the easy part lol.

Do you currently build bumpers, roof racks etc?? Have a 4th generation 4runner I just purchased and I have to add bumpers soon!:fishing:

Well tonight I rewired my mas air flow sensor as three of the wires were cracking and potentially messing with the readings... The new pig tail harness from Toyota was only $30, totally worth it if you ask me! I also flushed the transmission and replaced both external filters. It needed a flush bad, the fluid coming out was dark dark brown, almost like chocolate milk, I went way too long. Shifts were getting slow and labored... And the first to second shift was really bad. In all I used 19qts to do the flush. I'm thinking about getting the upgraded valve body for it to see if that helps clean up the shifts, the first to second shit is still a little slower than I'd like but it's world's better.

That is one bad ass picture, Isaac. All of them are good, but that one and the close up of the LF wheel are calendar/background worthy.

I'm glad to see you poke your head in here, and that you are still working on the rig and having fun with it. It looks stunning as usual, always one of my favorites.

Thanks, in some places the water was over my hood, so, 3" lift on 35s... It was semi deep I guess. I've been in deeper, with water over the mirrors, but never this deep with this fast of water and this much open space... I only did it cause I have been through that section of the river several time previously and know it fairly well. Definitely gave some pucker moments at times, especially when I found a few deeper holes that were new. But that's the name of the game with rivers like this, they are constantly changing and every storm can cause changes in the riverbeds.

Do you have any plans to run a bolt through the endcap? Thats what I did on mine to give me a little more hold to the bumper. I don't know if it matters all that much to the strength of the mount but I know some others have done it as well.

Hey man! This post was a long time ago but I am putting an ARB bumper on my 4Runner and wondered what bolt you used to go through the front of the frame? I know the long sleeved one goes top to bottom but Is there a short bolt for the front so it doesn’t interfere with with the longer one? Or is it a long one as well? Thank you!

by the by, i was wondering what you settled on for you amber-lamps setup, i know your a fan of them and have been through a few iterations, i'm looking to add some myself, i have hella 4000's 8" lamps, on my arb now and was trying to decide if i should throw a amber LED bar above them on that top mount on the ARB bumper or if i should do ditch lights, maybe both?

So those of you who fallow me on Instagram know I had a front coilover snap on me a few weeks back... Welp Icon stepped up big time and took care of it. It was the shaft that snapped at the base. They took both of my coilovers, rebuilt them and did some extra stuff for me, like swapping out the standard shim for the extended travel shims all for free. I also had them swap out the 650lb stock coils for the 700lb ones and change the Tacoma fittings and hoses for the correct 4runner ones, that I had to pay for but it has definitely been worth it. I have less than 1" of preload and have almost 23" hub to fender. The ride is much nicer than with the 650lb coils, I think the issue there was I had then so cranked up to get my height that I was preloading the coils so bad the ride was on the harsh side. I never had any coil bind, but it wasn't as nice as this. Everyone said I'd hate the 700lb coils, I love them. And with all the weight I have it's most definitely the way to go. Also I put another exhaust in the truck, this time I went for quiet, it's very nice, you clearly hear the fans over anything, and you have to be right next to the truck to head it running. And I'm all for that out in the woods, I'm tired of loud vehicles (at least ones that don't have power and or aren't fast). Even when I swap the 4.7 in, I'm gonna want it quiet.

well so a little update here...

blew another ring gear this time due to a bad setup from the shop i paid to do it last year when i blew it on the trip you see a few post earlier where im in the river and in the snow ect... it was cold, the shop was full of other projects and i didnt feel like doing and so i paid someone to do... well that came back and bit me in the butt. they didnt take care to set it up correctly and set the pinion too deep so it was scaring the ARB and yet not getting a good pattern -riding too far out. this was addressed by beveling the pinion this time around to allow it to sit deeper and not contact the ARB. anyhow after all of that i ended up finally getting around to upgrading the valve body in the transmission as well as all new solenoids. im really happy with how it drives, its like a brand new transmission and it clearly needed some TLC...

yes that was rust in my transmission on the separator plate... flushed all the fluid after doing this and once again changed all (3) filters









now im just putting miles on the new rear end and waiting for the snow!

oh and the 700lb coils on the front icons, yeah totally the way to go. i have about .5" of preload and im at 3" of lift, and a super plush ride that is very stable and predictable and responsive. rides 100 times better than with the 600 or 650lb coils what ever they came with.

How much weight do you have on your front end? Maybe I mis-understand, but I figured with a 600/650lb coil, it would compress easier, making for a less jarring ride?

yes the the lower spring rates compress easier, but that also means they require more preload to achieve the desired lift amount... and the prelaod will increase the spring rate, especially as the coil compresses. so as it the 700lb springs hold the load better with less preload and allow for more travel, without the abrupt increase in spring rate as they collapse.

That's some pretty brutal luck with the transmission woes. But... Now that THAT'S sorted, it is one less thing to have to worry about. Do you think the rust is due to water crossings where water got into the trans fluid?
