The Road to Montana

I relocated to Montana from Dallas, TX this week and my 2007 4Runner did the job exceedingly well. I documented the trip on my blog with lots of scenic photos (scroll down to skip the writing).

Welcome to Montana, I'm from Texas too and know that drive all too well. You couldnt have picked a worst time of year to move up here, but you made it relatively unscathed. I've been holed up in Chugwater, WY for a night more than once because the interstate was closed. Even saw a semi blow over in Wheatland. WY is probably the toughest country in the lower 48. That wind is from another world. MT's economy is a fraction of what it's like in TX. But with all the other benefits of life in MT, Texas can't even come close. Again, welcome. Your rig is a lot more practical rolling through Big Timber than Waxahachie.

Awesome pictures of your move! I moved from Tyler, TX to Mass last year and loved the road trip. Hopefully MT is a free state also... I am behind enemy lines now in MA..

I had to stop at the lodge in Chugwater, WY and buy their "emergency" gas for $20, which was just 2.5 gallons that helped me get to Wheatland.

So far so good up here. There really seems to be a spirit about Montana.

That is awesome! I love the outskirts of Tyler, and specifically down 155 and 31W. I spent a lot of time in Frankston and Chandler as well. I love ETX and miss it dearly. Lol

Good choice! Bozeman is great town and is an even better base for adventures. I was born and raised in MT and I'm still working on plan to get back there!

Great post and thanks for sharing! I can appreciate what your doing and give you props for having the guts to follow your dreams. Montana is a beautiful place. I'm not too far from you, if you'r ever down for some travels a little farther north make sure to let me know, I'm quite framiliar with the territory just north of Whitefish and do a ton of offroading, camping, and hiking in the Crowsnest Pass area of Alberta.
