Finally everything came together, and we were finally able to take our lost coast trip. We had our new tires, and a new water jug that won’t leak as bad as the old one, so we were ready to rock. The plan was drive north from the east bay Saturday, and camp at Usal beach. From there we would head north on all the dirt roads or trails we could find, camping wherever looked like a good place. One of the best kinds of trips. I need to give a big shout out to MeefZah , the creator of the Humboldt / Lost Coast / Surrounding areas thread.
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/nor-cal/247256-humboldt-lost-coast-surrounding-areas-thread.html I PMed him with some stupid vague questions about the areas trails, and he wrote me an incredible response with detailed descriptions of enough trails for a few weeks of vacation. Amazingly helpful people like this are why certain forums have such a wealth of information, and are so useful.
On the way up, the coast was beautiful, as usual.

The 4runner made friends with a local in Fort Bragg.

The way into Usal Beach from Hwy 1 is graded well, and could be done in most passenger cars.

And a sweet beach area.

Being the weekend, we had to look around a bit for a good campsite. I couldn’t resist taking lots of photos around this fallen redwood.

And I haven’t been able to stop spamming the forum with pictures of the 4runner under the fallen redwood since. Here is another!
