Lol yeah it probably would have been easier that way but we used a big socket and they UBJs popped out with a little coaxing. So you gonna be ready by Moab time?

Yep i should be. Most of the major stuff is done. Now its just a lot of annoying little stuff. Something tells me i will still be at the shop pretty late all this coming week.

T case crossmember is pretty much done. Just need to paint it and then cut out the stock crossmember and modify the belly skid to fit

Hi-Lift mount is pretty much done. Just need to mount the Rotopax on the upright in front of the jack.

Well I'd say the T.a.Co Moab trip was a success. Drove it 380 miles to Moab, wheeled the piss out of it, drove it 380 miles home and to work today. Only issue i had was i think i may have stretched the chain in the stock T case from all the extra torque of the crawl box. Other than that, the truck did awesome and literally crawled up whatever i pointed at.

What makes you think you stretched the chain? I know my crawl box added all sorts of extra play in the drivetrain, the gear driven stuff has quite a bit of play in it.

I was actually going to PM you about it since you are the only other one i know with the exact same setup as me.
After running Fins n things it developed a pretty good rattle. As far as i can tell, its coming from the rear case and kind of sounds like the chain is slapping against the cover of the case. I won't know for sure until i tear into this weekend but i'm not 100% sure if thats what it going on. Regardless, it doesn't sound happy. Either way, i still beat on it doing Trifecta after that and drove it the 380 miles home without any issues.

Maybe you did, but i would think probably not. Now when you say rattle is it in neutral? Say coasting down the highway at 50 or 60? Mine sounds real nasty in neutral, Kinda like a nasty rattle. I assume its just from the 4.7's running extra noisy and maybe even a little more with no torque on them.
You may be able to access the chain via the drain or fill hole and check it out. Also you could pull the front driveshaft off the tcase, put it in 4 and see how much play you get on the front output shaft.
Fromt what i have heard and from others with crawl boxes every one will sound different, and they never sound happy.... Some are just more not happy than others. Its common for them to have a gritty sound.
Let me know what happens with this, if it ends up fried at least these tcases are cheap and semi available

Yeah so it kinda sounds like something is rattling around inside the case. Imagine a faint "rock in a tin can" noise. It happens when the truck is moving over about 10mph and i can also make it happen if i put the trans in gear, the crawl box in high, and the stock case in neutral.
I did end up draining the oil out of both cases. The crawler looks good. Some fine filings but nothing out of the ordinary. The rear case had some larger chunks about the size of large grains of sand. The chain looked good from what i could see through the fill plug and it didn't have any unusual play in the front driveshaft so you are probably right that it isn't stretched.
Right now the plan is to pick up another used case and swap it in and then tear into this one and see if i can figure out what happened.
Appreciate the input and i'll definitely let you know what the outcome is

Maybe you toasted a planetary. I grenaded the original tcase in my truck... Maybe pull the shifter. I had metal shavings all over it. If you get another case at least now you have a spare chain and input shaft!

That's was my next thought. New t case is gonna be here today and i'll probably swap it tonight. I'm definitely going to open the old one up and i'll post up the disassembly process.
