I really like the Toyo's a lot. Only downside IMO is the weight but neither of us are driving race cars
. I went snowboarding on Sunday and it did end up snowing later in the day and the tires really hooked up. Never needed 4wd even climbing up a hill to get out on the parking lot in a couple inches of snow.
When you compare all the specs, its really tough to beat the Toyo's. I think the only other tire i would consider would be some Duratracs but only if i stopped wheeling the Lobster....like that will ever happen :rofl:

lol ok cool. I'm going to grab them regardless, if I can ever get ahold of this guy today... frustrating. It's easier to trade 37's for 37's anyway.
I started loving the Irok's since I've had em, but the ones I have are too small for what I'll be doing this winter.
If I can make a deal with this guy, I should have some burly 37's on by the weekend. Fingers crossed. Thank's man!

Been a little bit since i updated this. Got some new bling bling going on
First off, i got rear ended about 3 weeks ago by a kamikaze Subaru. I was stopped in traffic on the highway and she hit me doing about 30

And the Lobster
It did end up tweaking the swing out hinge. I was never really happy with how that ended up when i built the bumper so i decided to use this as an excuse to make it better
First i cut out all the old hinge and made the mounts for the heims much taller.
I also added another tube on the swingout and moved the heims further apart so there would be less leverage on them. All the mounts are now made from 1/4 instead of the 3/16's i used before.
As it sits now.
I still need to make the upper heim double sheer and do some final welding, grinding, and paint it all. The weather here hasn't made it much above the single digits since last week so progess has pretty much stopped until it warms up.
In other news, I picked up a pair of spot fog lights to replace the floods in the bumper that really don't project light far enough to do much.
And i upgraded the rear shocks to some ICON VS 2.0 resi's
They are the 05+ Tacoma shocks which are the perfect length for my setup. I did have ICON custom valve them for my 4Runner and the extra weight i have. They ride freaking AWESOME.

Small update. The bumper reworking is pretty much done
Since i'm never actually finished with any project i do, i will eventually make the other side match and devise the hold open pin. But since i am a lazy person, i have convinced myself that it works better than it did and i'm happy with it for now

coilover and body lift?
when i tried installing my leveling kit with my toytec co's, my axles would bind and lock up and not spin. Am I doing something wrong? or missing something?
honestly my truck is on jack stands on the garage right now, I'm dreading undoing the leveling kit from the co's.

A leveling kit plus the coilovers? If so, that is your problem. Coilovers aren't compatible with any additional spacers. Post up a thread with your issues and include some pictures and i'll see if anything looks out of place.

how does the bottom mount on the 05+ taco shocks work out. Do you remove the inner sleeve or do they just fit right on there?

Yep the Taco lower mount is a 1/2 bolt where our factory lower mount is a 3/4 pin style. All i had to do was remove the sleeve and bushing that ICON puts in there and swap it with a 3/4 hourglass bushing
This is what i used.
Energy Suspension 9.8108G 3/4" Hourglass Shock Eye Bushing : Amazon.com : Automotive
ToyTec has them for cheaper though.

I'm so grateful for your experimentation with those icons rear shocks, I really did not want to have to pay the 500 a shock for 4runner ones.... How is the ride on washboard/fire road type terrain?

They ride great. I had ICON valve them a little heavier than usual since i have so much extra weight and since ICON valves their shocks digressively, it can be a little firm at slower speeds. However once you speed up a little, it just floats over everything.

Yeah seeing you do that really got me thinking, I may go with the icons when I send in the front coils I got so I can get them both revolved and shipped back as one. But... I just found a set of kings for the rear of a land cruiser 80 and its got me thinking... my only worry is drooping too much because there meant for a 1-2in lift on a land cruiser but the guy at downsouthmotorsports said he could redo the valving for my needs for free with the order. Might be worth some experimentation...
