4. Should be some kind of ledge or panel on the rear deck to keep things from falling on the ground when you open the lift gate.

5. Auto-up on both front windows gets annoying when I'm just trying to open it a crack to get some air.

Are you crazy? The auto up and down my favorite feature. The switch has cam when half-way depressed to help you crack the window, it's pretty easy. I love not having to sit there and hold the switch the whole time to roll the windows up.

And a ledge on the tailgate would be terribly annoying when putting big stuff in the back. Some things you wouldn't be able to fit unless the ledge flipped down.

You should do the cargo net mod. It looks pretty sharp.

The only thing that pissing me off is the huge amount of money I want that I dont have to build my truck the way I want to.
Other than that, I cant be upset at my truck. Its done everything I have ever tried to do in it.

My 4Runner has 165k miles on it and runs like a champ. It needs a new rear pinion bearing, a timing belt change, and a few other minor things. Other than that, it's a tank and I absolutely adore it.

I feel I could go faster safer in my last cherokee or K1500 on a snowy highway - this feels a bit top heavy even with nice new firestones - I attribute that to it's off roading ability which prizes ground clearance over COG ..?

unreasonable, the 4runners heavier then the cherokee and quite a bit bigger and the other is a pick-up truck, an old pick up truck none the less, the ground clearance on those things is like nil.

this thread is beginning to sounds like miata owners complaining about getting stuck in the snow.

i knew what i bought and knew what to expect from it, I'm not disappointed in any way.

if i wanted long range i would have gone with a car hybrid suv or heck even a modern engine.....
think about it these things were built in the late 1900's lol, i like to think of 1995 as the late 1900's kind of funny when you look at it like that, but it is a reality as well, i'm pretty sure you guys should be at least getting 16 mpgs
that is if your not running 33's which is way over stock ,lifted, armor and all of the rest and if your not getting that time to do some maintenance work.
the stock mpg's were right about average for the time
17/21 city hiway respectively.

i could only dream of that in my 1998 jeep grand cherokee,
heck even the comparable 4.0L version of the zj only got
15/20 with around 190 hp and 225 tq,

so the 4runner got the better end of that deal as well.

meh, oh well, the only things i see that are really all that valid here are teh cup holders those do suck, and the pink milshake thing as well, those are 2 completely vaild flaws and good reason to be pissed off, but crappy gas mileage on a 10 year old vehicle with mods and or poor maintenance
is being unreasonable.

17/21 is decent mpg

I had a volvo 940 wagon with a 4cyl that got the same mpg fwiw

safe or full size vehicles will always be gas pigs

the 87' jetta 1.8l which weighed in @ 2700lbs ? with zero safety features other than seat belts and brakes (power steering) got 27/32 - but that was a light unibody people mover pavement crawler

17/21 is good for 4x4 SUV

hey dp,going to get the rattle worked on tommorow,what a ***** huh my buddy's 94 explorer is rattle free why not the 4runner??sure I could crank the radio or say "who cares" but im the type of person who stays on top of things sounds leaks ect.plus when I sell the truck it will sell for higher rattle free so why not just get the work done now and enjoy it instead of fixing it and selling for better market value.

At this point there is nothing that bothers me about my old '97. It still drives pretty much the same as when I drove it off the lot a little over 13 years ago. It has been meticulously maintained, though.

It was my daily driver for about five years. At this point it's mostly just used as a driver in winter driving conditions, and occasional 4wd trail exploration vehicle. It excels at both of those tasks, IMO.

If it ever starts having issues, my opinion might change. But for now it works great for my limited use needs.

Hit the nail on the head with that one. Not a big fan of my cup holders. but.. they do work.

i think the cup holders are great they hold a good amount of weight, plus i like the idea of the standard cup holder... forces you not to buy a HUGE big gulp or super size any meals... mercedes benz has been doing the standard size for years... us americans are just to fat for our own good hahaha spoiled with cup holders after cup holders ive seen the latest SUV's with like 12 cup holders/sports bottle shapes ones that hold coffee mugs etc. its just way to much for an average guy.

but i do use the armrest when i have a big drink lol or i just do it the ole fashion way and have my passenger hold my drink :lmao:

^This is my #1 problem I have with my 4runner. The only other thing that rarely bothers me is the gas tank does seem a bit small, but that's so minor I generally shrug it off and keep going. So far it's gotten me anywhere I've wanted to go on and off road, which is exactly why I got it.

Seriously, WTF is that for? All the windows should have express close.

Been there done that, I can deal with the rattles, but its the rust that really gets me, rattles can be solved with a radio, rust is rust and will eventually get worse, toyota could have most definetley made these more rust proof.

move to a state that doesn't use insane amounts of road salt. thats been working pretty well for me.

I love my 4Runner and sure there are squeaks and rattles every now and then but my sub usually covers those up. :bigok:

My only gripe, changing the 3rd brake light with the factory spoiler on! Why do I need to pull the damn wing off to get at the damn bulb? hahaha :rant:

The american public caused this, with their "sue/screw anyone to make a buck" attitude, cause people's fingers could potentially get stuck in there and if they do its a garuntee'd win on a lawsuit for some lazy american looking for a buck after they closed and bruised their own finger in the sunroof that they tried to close!

BTW i am fully american, born and raised here, just answering the question accurately.
