Things you did not know about your 4runner

Agreed. If I take mine off it goes in the console with the muzzle down. However, I'm "one of those guys" who gets bent out of shape about trigger and muzzle discipline.

That aside, a strong collision could cause the pistol to come out of the kydex holster since the holster is mounted which would mean it's bouncing around the console without the trigger covered. I'd rather have the pistol bouncing around in the console with the holster on.

in secured holster, muzzle down = good to go. thats why my weapon stays on me at all times. Only time I would secure it in the console is if I had a console vault and I was just putting it in there because I was going into a facility that you aren't allowed to carry in

The wiper interval is opposite my other 2 Toyos. Instead of interval going longer when you twist it towards the wide end of the indicator wedge, the interval gets shorter.

I am so glad you posted this because this has been driving me absolutely crazy trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

My previous car (Nissan) in my brain I would turn it to "larger line" for a "bigger delay" and turn it towards the "thin line" for "smaller delay."

In my 4Run, it's like "More line = more wiping" and "smaller line = less wiping."

Sub-Question: Is there something seriously wrong with my brain that I need to think of switches and buttons this way to remember how they work, or am I just the only one to verbalize it?

Think of the stalk (and graphic) as wiper speed and not interval and you won't mess up again.

Exact thing with me - other car is Nissan and seemed I was always turning knob wrong way when discovered why. Didn't drive either much at time and doesn't rain much in MT so took me a year to realize.

If you have no sliding tray you have no storage compartment. That's why I built my original storage box- to make the cargo floor level.

ONE of these days...I will build your storage box idea. I too would like to have it flat back there and a little extra storage.

Yep, most dealerships don't know jack about the actual features of any of their cars honestly. I initially was 100% turned off from a 5th gen 4R because the salesman told me I could only get them with either a 3rd row or a slide-out tray (i.e. no option to have NOTHING), and that stuff like that was usually a gimmick for Toyota to make money.

Same dealership, when I test drove an FJ (just for fun, it was after I bought my 4R), the sales lady didn't know if it was a V6 or a V8. I knew but I asked just for kicks. She just talked the entire time about how it "felt" smooth driving. Now if I ever go test drive a car at a dealership I politely ask the sales person to remain quiet so I can experience it all for myself.

When I bought mine, I was telling the auto dealer about the car, which he had no idea anything I was saying. Lol. It was a quiet ride. I pretty much sold myself the 4Runner. But I already knew what model and color I wanted before I got there.

If you're in shift mode and you hold it toward the plus sign it will jump up to 5. Holding it toward the minus will not go to first.

For all those who are annoyed with the XM Radio nagging. This is basically what I did once my trial ran out:

1. Tell them you use Pandora with the Entune app and don't have a need for XM. (Gives them a reason why you refuse their service which they can't counter against)
2. (Most importantly) tell them to please take you off their contact list, including email.

If they don't abide by #2, you have grounds to pursue legal action as they are now violating federal laws regarding the CAN-SPAM act.

I dont even bother with XM or Pandora via Entune as they sound like a tin can in a hallway. If you launch Entune app away from the truck on your phone, there is actually a checkbox on the Pandora app for "Higher Quality Audio" which still doesnt help audio quality. I now launch the Pandora app from my phone and hook up via bluetooth and it is a much better audio quality. No more sounding like a tin can under water. Make sure your phone volume is around 80-90%.

If you cant man up at 4'oclock you shouldn't be carrying a gun... a nice jolt to the weapon from a car accident could be just enough to launch a round so at a minimum it should be pointed to the ground if stored in the console.... know me before questioning my experience with with guns... its dipshits with your mindset that fall victim to accidental (READ NEGLIGENT) discharges

There are plenty of safe ways to carry a gun without the worry of a quick jolt from an accident discharging a round. Personally, I don't keep a round in the chamber. If needed, a quick rack of the slide and I'm ready to go. If there were a round in the chamber, the safety would certainly be on. Also, with today's internal safeties, there's no way a gun will fire without that trigger being pulled. So, I suppose if you carry your weapon with a round in the chamber, safety off and hammer cocked, there's a chance of an accidental discharge. But if you take the proper precautions, that chance is virtually zero.
