Really embarrassing thing I learned today --- and let me be clear - I judged people who did this for YEARS. I warn you it can happen to the best of us now.

Getting gas, went inside to buy something, came back out and drove away. Heard the "CLUNK" noise, fearing I had just caused the pump to detach from the unit as I've seen happen before ... BUT NO ... the 2016 TEP 4 Runner gas valve thing is FLEXIBLE !!! If you drive away with the handle still in your car, it bends back and the handle just pops right out so the embarrassing detach doesn't happen to you!

Guys this was the best surprise feature ever. May you never need it yourself. But next time you fill up I bet you didn't notice its flexible, but now you will.

So the metal hole where you insert the gas nozzle .... around the metal ring is like rubber flexible stuff (very technical here). With the nozzle inserted, you can push it left or right and you'll see the metal area moves with it.

If you remove the cover for the jack and tire change toolkit, you can actually see the otherside of the fuel line (at least that is what I think it is in there).

Reading my owner's manual yesterday (who does that!?) and didn't realize that Toyota recommends one to ride in 4WD a minimum of 10 miles a month. Per the manual: "This will assure that the front drive components are lubricated."

I had a Ford Bronco II 100 years ago (or so it feels like that) and they had a similar recommendation. I don't recall it having a specific number, but something about using the 4x4 system monthly.

You should periodically engage your e-locker to if you have one. Or just drop acid and wander around on foot while pondering all the things you should remember to do :bounce: (that wasn't nearly as funny, since I screwed up calling it an LSD)

Not so much to lube as to heat up enough the burn off any atmospheric h2o that will contaminate the gear oil.

I never knew how much fun it would be to mod it. Not the actual wrench work, which mostly I leave to others more qualified than I. But just deciding what I want, getting it done, and then enjoying the result.

Also never knew how much I would love photographing it. Even before any mods, the 4Runner is a very photogenic truck.

New, well 5,000 miles now Trail edition and new to the forum. Curious if you can have the blinker control re-programmed so when you go to change lanes you can tap the lever and the signal blinks about three times. On other vehicles I've had them enter a code to get that option. At my 5000 mile service I asked to have it done but was told it's not an option. That's hard to believe.

It flashes "Moon roof open" on the dash too.

Not sure if mentioned but the power windows still work after shutting off the motor (key in off position) until one of the doors is opened. It was that way on my 4th gen too.

Haha I don't think I could pull off the latter. I think you do with the VSC button, correct?

I do need to find some place (somewhat) local to Philly and get out and abouts!

It's a nice feature to have: usually doing this with rear window haha...

You can plug in a USB stick (as high as 128gb) and play a maximum of 10000 songs off the device all sorted per artist album and genre. If you hit the album art on the screen while playing a song it will bring up the other songs in that album. Also hold to mute doesn't just stop the radio but it also serves as a pause/play button in other music modes.

Not on the early 5th gens (at least the SR5). We just get the chime.

This one is something most people probably know. That being said if you're out of the car and need to put the back window up or down you can use the key. Turning left with the key in the tailgate lowers the window. Turning right on the key automatically locks the doors and puts up the window.

No alarm for the rear hatch window sadly. Guess how I found that out?
