Things you did not know about your 4runner

After a few times I noticed when pressing the rear defroster button that I have heated side view mirrors! Awesome! Thought their would be a separate button for the side view mirrors and didn't see anything in the manual about this.

Did my first wash on my
18 today and noticed that the rear side windows have what looks like defrosters on them. I knew the truck had rear window ? Mirror defrosters but, never knew about the back side glass.

Did not find an appropriate thread so will post here ..... I have good fan speed and air flow and heat on dash and defrost settings, but very little air flow when setting it on feet position. Same problem with A/C. Fan seems to be working fine, just no air on my cold feet. below zero in WI 2017 SR5 premium

I agree. A VW I had was about the same way, except the dash lights would dim down to nothing in the dark until you turned on the headlights to give you a hint of your stupidity.



At least Toyota lets you leave on the headlights all the time, so that is always an option for those who can't live without auto headlights.

Huh? Am I missing something? My headlights stay on after shutting off car and locking doors. I wish I could leave them on at times! Its habit for me to turn them on/off, though, as my last car required that.

Nah, leave them on, close your doors and lock the doors. The lights will turn off after 30 seconds or a minute or whatever. If you leave a door open, the lights stay on.

OR close the doors, then lock your doors twice with the remote. Lights turn off immediately.

Also if you double lock the car the lights will turn off and no need to wait 30 seconds or 1min

If you have the Carista app, you can set the lights to turn off when you shut the car off and open the door, at least with them set to auto. I haven’t tried it with them set to on though.

Haha same. I can see if the HU has a limited database when it comes to the radio but you'd think it would pull the same album cover from one's iPad/iPhone/iPod. I guess this is where Apple CarPlay would help? Who knows. This never bothered me enough to complain but I did notice this shortly after purchasing my TE.

Can't you just hit "Display" on the steering wheel to change what's displayed on the screen? I thought there was one that didn't show the eco bar.

Eco Bar turns off above about 87mph. Also, I leave it on the little truck icon, it isn't displayed with that.

Exactly! It's like magic lol. And even for songs I listen to on the radio it still shows the album cover.

That worked for the eco light, but not the bar. So apparently keeping it at 87mph in Baltimore rush hour will do it. :eyebrows:
