Things you did not know about your 4runner

I run my T4 in Select Shift 5, the green light is gone and the T4 does a little better on downshifts when accelerating.

Eco Bar turns off above about 87mph. Also, I leave it on the little truck icon, it isn't displayed with that.

If you are using cruise the ECO bar outline is there but the bar is gone.

Its probably standard on the limited and is for more usb and power source to charge your phone if thats what your referring to in the picture.

I was thinking Easy Pass Transponder but your idea sounds better.

Exactly! It's like magic lol. And even for songs I listen to on the radio it still shows the album cover.

That's what the Gracenote logo is for on the head unit. Gracenote provides metadata for music, video and sports. I'm sure it's stored in memory somewhere...unknown if it ever gets updated (maybe via HD Radio?).

That worked for the eco light, but not the bar. So apparently keeping it at 87mph in Baltimore rush hour will do it. :eyebrows:

Eco bar can be turned off by the dealer via techstream (or with the app. laptop, & cable if you have it). I had them turn that off, seatbelt chime off, and enable the feature that if you press & hold unlock on the key fob all the windows roll down. My dealership charges a flat rate for doing that stuff so I had them do everything I wanted.

I believe it's for the booklet with your registration and insurance and whatnot. Could be wrong though, mine doesn't have the strap.

I bought the Carista plugin and used the app. $40 well spent to remove the stupid eco bar and roll down the windows with the remote plus a bunch of other things and it's cheaper and more convenient the dealer.

Did Carista remove the actual eco bar, or just the light? I read a list of what it does and didn't recall seeing that. That's probably the route I'll go.

I "still" don't know what the little area behind the cup-holder is for. I even contacted the salesman, he ran a survey among the staff, and they had no ideas. Its in the component diagrams I see from the internet, but without any label to describe it. Thoughts?

Only turned off the bar in mine, I believe the bar isn’t showing up on his because after he changed the settings he never takes it out of park. Carista will take care of the bar.

I do that in my SR5P and the bar still stays on. Doesn't work turning off thru the display method.

Just used Carista today and it took the eco bar off. So glad that thing is gone!

The engineers at Toyota planned for owners to be idiots.

If you open your hood while you have your windshield wipers flipped out, it will actually just push them down instead of snapping them off. Thank you Toyota engineers [emoji6]

I'm amazed that it never needs oil. I'm closing in on 30k and have never had to add a drop of oil to it. The three Isuzus I previously owned all needed a quart of oil on a regular basis, and the older they got, the more frequently they ran low.

Yeah my 8th gen Honda Civic Si need a quart in between oil changes regularly, But yes i can confirm. The 4Runner has never needed any oil. My 2nd gen Tacoma was the same way. I out over 200,000 miles on it, and never needed anything.
