Things you did not know about your 4runner

Got a 16 trail, I was out camping left the the doors open for an extended amount of time, door puddle lights turned off auto. and couldn't get any interior lights to turn on or map lights, closed the doors and everything worked as normal

Yeah. A time out function so you don’t drain the battery. I’m not sure how long it is. Door closure and re-opening resets the timer.

2019 skid plate on new 2018 TRD Pro???

I had the local dealer get me a white 2018 4Runner Pro that supposedly just arrived at the port. It just arrived at the dealer but has a 2019 skid plate with the red lettering. I’m reluctant to buy. I’m thinking it may have been replaced due to transportation damage. They don’t have a good explanation as to why a 2018 has a 2019 skid plate. Any thoughts on this?

If it came from the southeast they seem to put things on the 4r's that you don't normally see. While shopping I was wondering why some came with red brake calipers - southeast thing. It also could be a end of the run one and got a new plate? Take the vin and run it through here https://www.toyota.com/owners/vehicle-specification , you can see what was factory/port and when it was made.

I saw it a bunch, and was actually thinking about posting why it was. I looked at every TRDP blue one on cars dot com, and the pictures taken/uploaded by each dealer, and they all take pictures of the tires/wheels and the red calipers were clearly visible. I never paid attention to where these ones with the red calipers were but after reading and researching here I learned it was a southeast region thing, then I found the caliper cover threads and am glad I didn't get them afterall.

When mine finally showed up at the dealer it was one of the first things I looked at, again, before I learned here it was a SE thing.

None of the 4Runners sold through my local SET dealer come with the caliper covers. While it may be more prevalent with certain dealers in the SET network, it's not something that all SET dealers do.

While I can appreciate that I would rather they supplied a height adjustable front passenger seat.

This could be just something I never learned about any vehicle before, but If the lights in your rear view mirror are too bright tilt your rear view mirror up until you see the same image but dimmer. Knew dimming mirrors were a thing but never actually learned how to use them.

If using the stock fob, there's a key in it.

Lol, you are showing your young age. When I first started driving there was no such thing as dimming rear view mirror. The “dimmer” was a manual switch that tilted the mirror up to changed the angle of the reflection.

You don't even have to tilt the mirror. There is a little lever on the bottom, just flip the lever and it dims.

Wow - Finally finished 60 plus pages of comments and wanted to say THANK YOU for all of the cool tips.

New to 4Runners and I have a 2018 TRD Off-Road Premium. I'm going to try my luck with getting the local dealership to program my windows tomorrow when I take it in..

One thing I didn't know about my 4Runner that I haven't seen mentioned is the return to volume after putting the radio on hold. After holding the button down to mute, all I have to do is bump the volume up or down to return to where it was previously.

Just learned the other day that you can swipe on the screen. Like if you're in the apps you can swipe to the left and to the right. I've been using the arrows this whole time.
