That doesn't really make any sense. The wheels and tires are balanced off the truck on a balance machine. If they are balanced out to 0, they are balanced out to 0.

Maybe you mean if they are out of balance you feel them more in a 4runner than you do other vehicles?

i mean, that on my particular 4runner, ive had to have all of my tires road force balanced, and roadforced balanced well, to avoid any vibrations at speed. on my current set of 285 grapplers, ive had them road force balanced twice and its still not right. there are two tires that have road force balance numbers around 24 and the others are under 10, yet the car vibrates like a mofo on the highway. stopped the same day at another shop to check to see if the tires were out of round, but the roll outs were nearly perfect and they looked balanced on their regular machine. getting two of the tires replaced to try and remedy this. I had trouble getting my last set of ridge grapplers (265) balanced as well. not talking about a ton of wheel weights either.

I dont think my current set of ridge grapplers wouldve caused this sort of headache on a jeep/similar car.

There is an amusing/morbid story about the necessity for the lower airbags. In the mid 90's there was an "apparent" increase in the amount lower leg/ankle injuries cataloged by the IIHS. It actually turned out that if the patients were turning up DOA from upper body injuries, no one bothered to note that the ankles were broken.

More people were surviving major collisions due to upper airbags, but with ankle injuries that needed treatment. Hence the addition of the lower bags...

I have noted that improper torquing of the lug nuts will cause a minor vibration. After a tire rotation by the shop I felt a steering vibration. I retorqued my lug nuts in the specific order (variation of the old 'star pattern' for symmetrical lugs) from the manual and it went away.

For anyone that is sensitive to steering vibrations, I recommend getting a 21mm socket, a torque wrench and 3" extension. Back the lug nuts off 1/2 turn and then retorque to 81 ft-lbs in the proper order. At the least, get out the lug wrench and do it by feel.

My wife got a 'free' oil change at the dealership on her car (not the 4R) and they pulled the tires as part of their 'inspection'. I got a full turn out of a couple of nuts when I checked torque. Never trust the tire monkeys!

TIL that by depressing the DSP button on the steering wheel on the average mpg screen for example I'm able to reset that as well as time elapsed.

I always thought pushing the reset plunger for the trip on the odometer would reset all that. I guess I should :rtfm:

Haha same. I can see if the HU has a limited database when it comes to the radio but you'd think it would pull the same album cover from one's iPad/iPhone/iPod. I guess this is where Apple CarPlay would help? Who knows. This never bothered me enough to complain but I did notice this shortly after purchasing my TE.

it's in the settings... use / show album artwork... if that's on, delete the iphone from the system, delete the bluetooth profile on the phone, restart both, reinstall both.

One I figured out randomly a while ago:

Holding down "mode" on the steering wheel controls turns the radio on and off.

I think this just mutes the stereo doesn't it?

Just learned the other day that you can swipe on the screen. Like if you're in the apps you can swipe to the left and to the right. I've been using the arrows this whole time.

this does not work on my radio when can you do this on home screen or app screen?

I found it to work on any screen that has multiple pages. So the apps screen or if you have multiple phone numbers saved in your favorites you can swipe up and down.

I didn't realize that either but, I just hit the Party Mode when I want instant volume. That usually increases the volume sufficiently to allow fine tuning with the knob.

HAHA, I hope you're not serious..Party Mode does indeed switch the sound back to your front speakers, making them sound "louder" now that they're playing instead of the rears..hence "Party Mode" (tailgate open).

I "still" don't know what the little area behind the cup-holder is for. I even contacted the salesman, he ran a survey among the staff, and they had no ideas. Its in the component diagrams I see from the internet, but without any label to describe it. Thoughts?

Soo this is interesting, because yours isn't "full length" like mine on my 2013 SR5, as mine doesn't have that square flat spot next to it and extends across. On mine it's the length to hold pens/sunglasses perfectly if I don't put them up into the "sunglass holder"..but better yet, it holds my iPhone and any of the new huge phones perfectly in landscape mode while I'm using Maps on my phone, or any music/other app that rotates into landscape mode..i.e.- I use this daily while driving to work to watch my dog on our home camera after I leave..he tends to freak out a bit from separation anxiety after we leave the first hour. That size/length on yours looks more like business card holder size?

There are pockets on the back of the front seats. LOL. Had an ad for a 2019 4Runner pop up on Facebook that showed pockets on the backs of the front seats. Thought to myself "oh man, I wish my 2018 had those!". Annnnd, it does. Not sure why I never noticed they were there.

2013 LE front floor amber LED's dim when you put tranny into D. Brightens in P.

I tapped into the circuit to add my own LED panels. I would have expected the OEM LED's to turn off but they just dim. Think I'm going to install a switch for my LED's as it's pretty bright at night even in D. Or figure out how to tap into the overhead console light circuit to shut them down completely.

Has anyone seen a mod that prevents the dimming of the floorboard LED / doorhandle LED? Would be better to keep them fully illuminated at night while driving IMO...

On my 16 SR5, if I turn they key off with the headlights on, open the door, then turn the headlight switch off as I am getting out, when I lock the car with my keyfob the running lights stay on. I have to start the car in order to get them to turn off, or I will come back later to a dead battery. Weird! Huh?

Press the lock button twice (quickly) when you do that next time. Should kill the light circuit then.

I can't turn my screen completely off, I don't have parking lights, and my radio won't stay on when I turn the key off.

The switch to lower/raise the rear window is in a perfect location for my dogs to actuate it.....and they do frequently.
