Think she is totaled?

Did they really look over and check the frame?

That would be my main concern that the frame might have gotten bent and if so might never drive quite right after that.

And I tell you what, the resale value has indeed, without a doubt, 100% dropped significantly, IMO. Carfax and those checks are becoming very popular and common and it will hurt the resale for sure.

Regardless if it was fixed...I know I wouldn't buy it (or at least not at any fair market value). I looked at a black SE when I was looking at T4R's and although I liked it I found out it was in a (supposedly) minor accident and I simply walked away and bought one with a 'clean' record. Not about to spend fair market value on a vehicle that was damaged, when I can find plenty that are clean.

Not meant to upset you, but its a fact IMO.

The girlfriend is in the insurance industry, and they are never out to get you or screw you, the research done here was exactly what they need to offer you more money.

A little off-topic, if you can demonstrated (document) improvements you have made, etc., they can pay you back for them. (Exception: some insurance companies have a $1k cap for accessories.)

Anyway, to reiterate the point, they all have a system that spits out a value based on many factors. If you can demonstrate that the number is low, they are usually more than happy to write you a bigger check. They just need to be able to justify it to their internal auditors.

Well said. We as adjusters don't always catch all the accessories or know what all you have done for aftermarket upgrades. If somebody can ever prove to me why their vehicle is worth more than I have offered, I'm all ears.

Well it's simply not totaled... Yes, it does suck! I'm driving a piece of **** jeep patriot right now (Rental) and I'm not to happy about it.

I know I've lost resale value! I know people pull Carfaxes. There is nothing I can do but wait until it's fixed and sell it as a private seller and hope no one pulls the carfax. Once I have cash in hand I will buy a 2011 trail or Limited and maybe even another 08 UrbanRunner I just can't decide.

Not to be rude but you act as if I have a choice wether they total it or not..

I would get the regular Xreas installed rather than putting in Bilsteins etc if you plan to sell. Most buyers are looking for stock vehicles, regardless of accident damage etc.

same thing happend with my 95. except it was pulled over on the highway because a belt broke waitinf for the tow trucvk an boom a drunk driver hits the same spot as ur an did same ddamage. me and my dad ended up redoing the hole rear end and it was fine.

I'm not sure who this is directed at, hopefully not me because that was not my intent. I just stated that I would really make sure the frame was good and other then that... I agree... it just sucks and is very unfortunate.

And as a result, unfortunately the end result is that it could very well affect re-sale value which is also very unfortunate. Maybe you can put a case together that you've lost re-sale value and maybe can get some extra money or value because of that? Though I suspect its unlikely.

On the other hand... if you liked the T4R, once its fixed and you've confirm that everything seems to be good with it then there is no worries... just keep it. That is what I would do. I'd just make good and sure that it rides well again, with no new creaks or issues before I signed off with the insurance company. and once I was satisfied, I would keep it (since I plan on running mine into the ground).

Just wanted to say I'm really sorry about your truck, but also really glad you were not in it at the time of the crash.

I think your plan is the best one in the circumstances - there is very little you can do about the insurance company, other than ask for another assessment. You could try suing the drunk driver for the loss of value of your truck, but that would likely end up being more trouble than its worth. So, getting it fixed up and getting rid of it would probably be what I'd do - mostly because I know I'd always be super sensitive to any weird noises, or whether the truck was handling okay etc etc.

Others have said this: You need to pursue a "diminished value" claim. The adjuster will prorate the vehicle and give money for the potential loss of resale. It could be that pursueing a diminished value claim will help them to total the vehicle out.

Also, when time of repair comes, there also could be undiscovered damage which may work in your favor in making the vehicle a total loss. Definitely ask for a frame inspection if it isn't already included.

Pursue a diminished value claim and see what they have to say about it.

Insurance co. willing to replace the OEM XREAS with Bilsteins? Interesting. Tell you what, make sure they repair it all STOCK with new XREAS all around , and if you want Bilstein 5100's for your new lift I'll fly out to Denver from LA, help you drop the XREAS out, give you my 5100's for free (only ~5k mi. on them), and reinstall everything. Labor included no charge. Serious.;): (of course you'll let me take the XREAS system back to LA with me in return right?) ;) ... I'll even pay you $?? for the deal .. PM me if interested, but looks like regardless you've got some serious body work (month+) on your hands there.
