Thinking about a lunch-box

Anybody have an opinion on throwing a Lock-Right lunch-box locker into a gen 2? I am not new to diffs but I am new to these kits. I frequently run the truck with a trailer across a sandy/stony beach onto a barge and have come very, very close to losing the truck to the tide more than once, so I figger a locker is a must. Looks rather simple to bolt in and I like the price...

I have a Yukon Grizzly in mine (rear diff), and I believe it is one of the best upgrades I did for my 4Runner.

From all accounts, they're a good light- to medium-duty locker. I had one in the front of my last rig and it did well, but I only used it sparingly--I had a Detroit in the rear that got me most places in 2WD. As long as you're not getting into a lot of hard-core wheeling, a Lockright will probably be fine.

This. The Spartan is the cheapest of the drop-in lockers, and has the strongest crosspin. You'll have a little adjustment period while you get used to it, and then you'll forget it's there.

I put mine to work on the trail all summer and DD it in the snow all winter and have no problems with it.
 
That Spartan is quite well priced. Looks like a stout unit too compared to the Lock-Right. I know how to treat a solid axle, but the wife likes to show off so it's best to plan on it getting abused a bit.

Spartan it is. Thanks for all the tips fellas. Not sure if it is kosher in here, but any prefs on a retailer? Marlin Crawler appears to have the best price and is just down the coast from here.
 
My preference is to support local vendors when I can. If that doesn't work, I think Rockauto has the best price, but Low Range Offroad and Marlin Crawler are both great national companies to work with that put a good amount of money and support back into the sport.
 
I've ran Aussie lockers (lunchbox style) and never had any complaints. I like the old school Detroit locker the best though.

That is why I asked. I like good service and am willing to pay for it -- as long as it is within reason -- and If I can support a supplier that puts a bit back all the better. There are several hundred items at Rockauto that I sure could use though... Thanks for the link RiFF RaFF.

Hey, I have been hunting around for the deflector above the rear window and am finding zip. My truck looks like it came with the rock guard up front, a sunroof half-shell and rear deflector. Mine got hit with a flying 2x4 last year and the end broke off. (I got cocky and was tossing boards into the back when my aim went bad) Looks awful. Any suppliers carry the trim pieces for gen 2s any longer? Or do I have to hope to find one at a wrecker... (Slim chance)

Far out! I checked ebay, but it didn’t show up... No matter, I see it now.

He's just down in California so shipping wont be too ridiculous.
