2.7 is a non rebuild-able engine block when it fails typically the crank nose breaks the crank nose main bearing seat.
it also has a issue with under fueling and burns valves.
just my experiences with several of these engines. the 3.4 is far better.

While I can't verify what you have seen with your own two eyes. I can truthfully say that the 3RZ block can be bored over, same as any R series block in the past. Maybe you are thinking of the 1GR that is aluminum and comes with cast iron sleeves from the factory.
And I have never seen or heard of a broken crank on one even running 30 psi of boost.

You chose - wisely. In the end the Mustang, and the Jeep would continue to be money pits with little to no return.

However with the proper maintenance your 4Runners will be like the Energizer Bunny.....
