Those of you with properly aimed HID bulbs, how often do you get flashed at?

I have some LED bulbs that just aren't cutting it, but I'm afraid HID bulbs would be like driving with my brights on. How bad is it really?

Was driving in front of another 4Runner on the freeway the other night who obviously had HIDs in his non-HID housings and it was really ****ing obnoxiously bright. Pretty much confirmed that I won't go that route unless I dish out the cash for a proper retrofit with correct housing.

The light scatter pattern is really dangerous regardless of what people on here that purchase them say. They're obviously not as bright or distinctively noticeable as high beams, but they're pretty bad.

I never get flashed after adjusting them.

Would get flashed all the time before I adjusted them. After I adjusted them, I never got flashed.

It takes a good 10 minutes, but well worth it.

Hmmm, I wonder if they possibly weren't adjusted properly or at all.....

Never. Just have to adjust them. The housing has excellent cutoff for HID retrofit despite the naysayers.

we never get flashed either. It's not a crisp cutoff like a true HID projector but it's also not like a halogen reflector bowl and you threw in a HID bulb. It's bright below the cutoff line regardless of how nice the cutoff line is.

Got flashed a few times with my HID's. But that was only when I had a lot of weight in the back. Normal driving never had an issue. Found 4300k works best.

I use to get flashed all the time when my TRD Pro was stock height with 4300k HIDs. I think it was because the headlights were aligned to stock height (non TRD Pro) before it became a pro model when it landed in the US. Now that I have a lift w/ 2" rake I never get flashed.

Go for HIDs - best money I have spent on this truck so far. If you adjust them down, you'll have no problems at all.

Never been flashed with properly adjusted HID's in OEM housings. Factory foglights on the highway must have been REALLY offensive though, I got flashed by about 50% of oncoming drivers before I gave up and shut them off one night.

LED bulbs in the low beam, projector style housings of the 5th gens are no bueno due to light scatter. They are okay in the high beam spot, due to that being a reflector housing.

A good set of properly aimed HIDs works great. I have the xTreme HID setup with 4300K Philips bulbs from Xenon Depot, and am very happy with it. Here's the related link:

Never been flashed, installed the XD HIDs out the box and didn't have to adjust the height.
