Thoughts on modding LED running lights to 2014's.

Seen a lot of posts on LED's for various applications on the 4R but haven't seen anything on their use as running lights, similar to what Audi, and many other are doing. Looks like there are good locations on the new front end. Kinda surprised they didn't include it on the 4R since they did on the Highlander. :dammit:

let me see, 51k 4Runner vs 127k Highlander volume might have a difference.

I can see it on the LE but the TE doesn't cater to those types normally. SR5 maybe.

highlander caters to city people that would never take it off pavement and majority of them will be wives/women who are looking for that kinda thing.

edit : forgot to add, the highlander is the civilized version of the 4runner.

I am getting this this done as we speak. I am taking the current DR and switching it out for a projector and adding a reverse check to duplicate the stock chrome check

As I see it, the main reason for LED DRL's is their visibility. This is probably somewhat temporary as they're fairly new to the scene, but I notice LED's a lot more than standard DRL's, and I want to be noticed by the phone tot'n, text'n fools on the road.

Agreed.

One of the things I really liked about my 2003 was the yellow DRL's. They were very noticeable as compared to all the mind numbing and forgettable white DRL's out there. After a while, you almost don't noticed the white DRL's but those yellow one always got my attention.

in another post/thread I put this pic for this same issue. if you could replace the chrome upside down nike swoosh, that would problem look better.

the only problem I see is that this is a sealed light assembly. a lot of work to get this done but man it would be clean looking install.

the other poor man option is to get those special side emitting led strips and mount them on the top leading edge of the headlight assembly.

Been done...3 times now. About to work on a 4th.

Sorry I don't have any daytime pics. These are switchbacks too. Not too hard to do. Patience is key.
