Throttle Boby Spacer Question

Do throttle body spacer work? Does it add horsepower, torque, and increase fuel economy like it this site claims?

I was bout to buy one, but I would like to hear your input first.

i believe they only work on carb engines...

There aren't too many things you can do to our engines to give them more MPG, HP, etc...

Best things for a little jump in HP would be the ISR and Deckplate mod with a decent filter. Lots of ppl like truflow. My truck has a k&n but that's how I got it. It aint broke so i didn't change it! Headers and exhausts don't do much. If you want a nice tone get a 18" or 24" magnaflow replacement. I've got a 24" and love how it sounds.

Besides the fact that it doesn't have a carb, the long intake runners over the top of the engine would negate any effect the TB spacer would have. Waste of money on the 3.4l 4runner.

Actually the thing that renders TBSs on our trucks useless is the fact that our engines are direct port injection meaning air and fuel don't meet til in the cylinder.

If you are buying a very unoticeable piece of metal for the sake of looks then it's kinda sad especially when that piece cost over $75.

I looked up deckplate mod, and it sounds awesome. But i'm living far from home right now, and i don't have the right tools for the job. Maybe I can just leave the top of the air filter box open. But can rain get in like this?

Also, I looked up the ISR mod, isnt this just for 2nd Gen 4runners?

Edit: My friend says that the deckplate mod might fubar the engine because of the mafci controller. does my 1997 4runner have a mafci controller?

The deckplate mod won't negatively affect the engine in any way I know of.

I would not suggest leaving the top of the box open.

The ISR mod can be done on the 3rd Gen.
