Throttle lag since new, is there a fix?

I have 2008 SR5 V8 4WD. 60,400 miles. Sometimes its very quick, sometimes it's not, and it has lag when I hit the throttle. It's been this way since new. I asked the dealer about this and was told it's the drive by wire causing it. Is there a fix?

I've read ads that appear in Google searches about throttle controllers that will eliminate this, but I can't find any info in forums or from sources that aren't trying to sell me something. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I finally pulled the trigger on the Sprint Booster. OK, it removes all the bog / lag, but that's all. I guess that alone was worth $290 as the lag is annoying when trying to merge in traffic. The vehicle should have come this way from the factory instead of the heavy sponge under the pedal feeling.

The lag is gone but the other issue remains. Sometimes the truck is very quick, like a 60's muscle car. About 20% of the time I hit the throttle and it feels like it has an additional 40 HP. The Sprint Booster didn't change this. It only eliminated the lag. There are no obvious issues with the truck... i.e. no check engine lights, no symptoms of any kind. It's stoned reliable and has had this issue since new. I'd like it to have this power all the time. It's a V8 4WD SR5 with only 68,000 miles. I pulled the plugs a few weeks ago and they look new. The air filter is new also.

I've heard power chips are snake oil but I'd spring for one if someone with experience says otherwise.

As far as I know their fine. I'm the original owner. The truck has done this since new. A buddy told me it might be the traction control toggling the ABS after sensing wheel spin but I don't think so. I mean why would it have such power sometimes then be kind of so-so others?
