Thunk/clunking when standing with gear in "D"

A few weeks ago this started: when standing with gear in "D" there is a thunk and clunking sound starting. When I start driving it disappears again. Also when the gear is in "0" or "park" there is no sound.

Any idea what this could be? Just checking with the forum before I start disassembling the drive train.

I does the clunk happen as you start driving or while you're stationary. If it's when you start driving, you need to grease your drivetrain

When is the last time you greased your drive shaft and u-joint connections? There are multiple places. I'd start there. Worked for me. And search the forum, multiple threads on this.
