time for a new suspension

my 04 limited 4x4 is nearing 80k so i wanted to take out xreas and put in new shocks. im looking at OME shocks and springs with some LR UCAs to get 3".

however i was wondering what options there are if i wanted maybe 4". i dont really want to get a body lift.

are longer shocks and bigger tires my only option?

There are some members that have reported 4" of lift on the front and 3 in the rear from using Overland's stuff...

But all I do here is read anyway....

Just got back from a 1,200 miles road trip on my '05 Sport w/X-reas. The X-reas is real tired. You hit a bump at high speed, the steering requires instant correction. It feels like the chassis wants to go one way, and the body another. And I am starting to get "steering wheel bump" due to lack of dampening. It has 90K on it. At this point, trading it in on a pickup may be what I want to do. I do have an FJ suspension setup, and extra tires. If I decide on a pickup instead of repair, I will place both for sale in the classifieds.

Also look at the control arms, most of the time they need to be replaced. If you have over 100,000 miles then yes new shocks could help.

You really can't go beyond 3.25" of lift on the front of a 4th gen. The angle of your CV's will be too critical beyond this, plus you'll have no down travel.

We recommend setting your truck for no more than 3" of lift with adjustable coilovers.

You can add a body lift if you are looking for more wheel well space for big tires. I run 35's with around 3" of suspension lift and 1.5 Body Lift.

You can not beat an OME suspension system.
