I am in the market for new rims and tires for my wife's 4Runner. We are looking at 18x9 Pro Comp 7033 and KMC XD Monsters. I am not sure on what offset I am looking for. I believe it will be a -12 offset.
Also we are looking at Toyo Open Country all terrain in a 265/60/18. Will this tire fit okay on a 9" wheel or will the tire look to narrow. If anyone is running these tires on this size wheels let me know how it looks, and fits. Thanks in advance.

IMO, that's not enough width for a 9" wheel. Sure, it will work but it will not look good - the sidewall will be straight as it stretches to mount to the bead. There will be little to no bulge in the sidewall, something that a truck needs to look right.

Considering that size is OEM spec for a 7.5" wheel, you can easily imagine how different that same size tire will look on a much wider wheel.


Most of the XD series wheels are 9" wide. If you really want to run 18's, a 285/60/18 looks great, but you will need to search to see if there are any rubbing issues on a stock truck. That size is only slightly larger than stock, but our trucks are finicky when it comes to tire size changes. At 31.5" it is less than 1" larger and wider than stock. The negative offset of the wheels will alleviate any concerns of rubbing on the suspension, but there can be some minor rubbing on a mudflap or other plastic components unless the truck is lifted.

Cooper zeon's are one tire that looks real good in that size, and is of comparable performance to the Toyo Open AT's.

This 4R has 285/60/18 on 18x9" wheels with -12 offset. The truck also has a 2" lift: food for thought. I'd bet a leveling kit on your 4R would be sufficient to fit these.

Well ended up getting the Monsters 18x9 and Nitto TGs 285x60x18. We then added in a 2.5 leveling kit. It should look nice. I will post pic's when it is done.
