Time to get busy!

So Im in port for a few days, not home port so Im not where the truck is. Theres hope for this project yet I guess thanks to some kind folks on here. I tell ya'll what, the Toyota community is much nicer than the Cummins comminity hahahaha. Wringing power tips and part numbers out of those guys is like digging up dead bodies. Anyways passing on the carberator idea since I found a thread about someone trying to stick a sidedraft carb where the throttle body was. Bad idea.

Found some inspiration for getting my truck back on the road, someone gave my 3 year old a bunch of toy cars, and he picked this one out of the pile and said "Dadas truck!"

Once I get brakes put in it and a few other things tidied up it will be all good to hit the street and then the trails!!!

Here my Rex! Out of the garage and moving ynder its own power! Gave it a quick wash and took the top off for the first time!

It was cool having the top off but I live in Florida, I took it for a quick run down the street in our daily downpour and realized that its not going to work for daily driving hahahah. Got brakes in it, got my "anti-theft" system wired up, replaced the air intake boot with some spectre bits from the auto store since mine was split, and generally straightened up under the hood and such. Took it out for a drive to see how everything was working and I have the no low end power problem. Have to check timing, O2 sensor, TPS, and probably going to clean the throttle body and see if that helps. I know I have a exhaust leak so Ill try to find a new manifold and pipe for it soon. Then its check the timing chain and valve lash. Registering it today because I need it on the road. There is no 22RE trucks or 4runners in the local wrecking yards but I found a celica saturday and pulled all the relays and sensors I could out of it.

So who knows the best place to get a new TPS from? and is it recomended that it be an oem aisin unit like most other stuff on these or will a auto store one work fine? Did the TPS check from 4crawlers website since I was having low end power issues, pulled the throttle body and cleaned everything and set the stop screw and idle per the fsm. But the TPS failed the ohm tests because its coming apart. I have a ziptie holding together because Roadkill. I set it as best I could with what reading I could get from it but obviously I need a new one.

I would order a OEM one from 22reperformance.com. Easy to deal with and he ships usually same day.

Hi guys, havent updated in a while, so Ive done a lot with the truck over the past few weeks. Been driving the piss out of it every day, finally put a working horn in it, had to replace the real seal on the transfer case since it dumped all the fluid in work parking lot after I heard it chattering real bad. Had to replace belts on the side of the road forgetting that I had SAE bolts holding the CS130 alternator in. Lower ball joints, u-joints, ordered the walker front exhaust pipe for it since my O2 sensor bolts rusted out and its got some holes in the pipe. Then I put it up for sale, Tried to trade it for a sports car, Then found out that I can fit a fullsize sheet of plywood inside the truck, Took it on a short wheeling trip and realized I cant get rid of my 4runner because its too awesome. So now Im keeping it and loving it. Still need to get a TPS for it and figure out what Im doing for exhaust. Been eyeballing one of those fancy Stage 2.5 motors from 22reperformance.com (putnam machine) and trying to keep an eye out for anyone getting rid of a used Blazeland LT kit for a real good price! My Rex is still aproaching a half million miles though! Just a lot of little things that need to be done as well as a new left front fender and paint one day, fix the windshield rust, and change diff fluids soon. Keeping busy with it putting as much money as the wife will let me dump into it hahahaha.

For sure! Theres something in the mail for you by the way! Sorry it took so long but between work and fixing all the little things on the truck so I can drive it everyday it kept slipping by. Im using the connector from my old ECU and the harness you sent me to make an extension and move the ECU up behind the glovebox hopefully. Next big buy for it is the TPS since mine is falling apart. Its held together with a cable tie with a bolt wedged under to keep pressure on the disk. Its getting signals out but thats not a permanant fix. Hopefully between that and the new exhaust I can fix it running rich.

Still daily driving it until yesterday, Evacuated from hurricane Mathew from vacation in south Florida with it back to JAX and it did great, 400 miles in a weekend. Its started having electrical issues again wich I figured was corrosion somewhere from all the salt water Ive been in with the storm and work so I started cleaning grounds and batt terminals. It melted the headlight fuse in my headlight relay mod from 4crawler, not just blown... Melted the entire fuse.... So I started pulling connectors and cleaning and packing with dialectric grease and I get to my alternator (GM CS130 conversion) and there is a giant crack in the case from front to back on the bottom! So it gets a new alternator this weekend and hopefully I can find a new TPS for it since my zipties fell apart and the little cover with the foil strip dissapeared. Been driving it with it unplugged. havent noticed much in the way of power loss or less fuel mileage but I drive it like a pissed off teenager anyways. My wheeling bud with a 2005 wrangler swears Im destroying my engine but I remind him its not a jeep....

I drove my 93 22re with an unplugged TPS for about 10k miles with no apparent ill effects. I lost a fair amount of mileage. Went from low 20's to mid teens. I am sure it's not great for the engine but I don't think it's that bad either. But yea it's not a heep either so I think your good.

So I spent the day replacing my clutch master cylinder and slave since a few days ago in traffic it stopped shifting into gear and I had to finish my drive home in 3rd. Tried bleeding it when I got home, found the master leaking into the cab on the floorboard so I just replaced both. Bled the new components for a while and had great movement from the slave but the trans wouldnt go into gear still. Pulled back the rubber boot on the clutch fork and its broken. So searching for one of those. That and a TPS lol

I am officially selling the truck now. Flipped it on its side yesterday swerving to avoid a moron pulling out in front of me and slid into the grass where the tire caught and over it went. Still runs and drives good but the body is tweaked beyond repair. Both doors open amd close normally, but windshield frame is bent pretty bad. Hard top is messed up pretty bad and the pass door glas and pass side rear curved window on the hardtop broke. Posted pics on the picture thread. Taking best offers on it. I cant afford to fix or keep it as a dedicated trail truck. Not reported to insurance so it retains a clear title.

Found a new 4runner here local to me, actually its 87saltyrunner's 4runner. the plan is build one good truck out of the best from both trucks since mine is okay mechanically. His needs a few minor things like a new trans and leaf springs which will come off mine. Got another guy local to me that also flopped his 1st gen so hes using some body panels from mine and cutting the rear quarters to fix another rusted out runner. So I wont be leaving you guys! Wife aint happy about keeping it to part out and build another truck with but it aint her money or her hobby. So ill have a new '87 here soon come tax return time and lots of stuff available for anyone whos looking for something. Theres no real interior in my truck just so ya know. Mechanical bits or some glass, maybe some sheet metal to patch rust with if anyone needs. a lot has been claimed for that already.
