Timing Belt Change

Hey all two things. Is Aisin a good reputable brand for the belt? Also - this didn't mention a water pump. I've done a million Honda timing belts and always do the water pump with it. Thanks.

The water pump is in the TKT-021 kit. According to some quick research, AISIN is the water pump supplier to Japanese automobile manufactures. The kit uses all Toyota branded boxes, legit OEM parts. Mitsubishi belt which is OEM.

Just as good as ordering it all separate from Toyota dealers IMO.

As much as I want to support local, Amazon is way cheaper on timing belt kits. The Aisin kit is the way to go.

Toyota owns a portion of Aisin. Aisin supplies many oem parts.

I've done a lot of work on 3.0s in Avalons/Camrys/ES300 and 330s. All of them have AISIN all over the place.

This picture is from a Camry 3.0. In addition to Aisin on the oil pump, you can also see part of it on the water pump (top left).





And yes, I know the ES330 has the 3.3L.

Also, get the kit that includes a new hydraulic tensioner. You can get a kit with or without one. I can't remember if -021 includes it or not.

Hi, new here and trying to find an answer to the following thought this may be a good thread:
I have a 05 GX470 with P0016 and intermittent rough idle:
If the belt slips (05 GX470) would I not only get a 0016 but a 0018 as well? Shouldnt the rough idle be constant as opposed to intermittent?

I was having a service on my 15-year-old 2005 4runner and was watching the mechanic take off the old "serpentine" belt, so I handed him a brand new serpentine belt, and he handed it back and said the old one is fine.

The mechanic works at a shop with 6 car lifts/racks and 10 other mechanics - all working 5 and 6 days a week - with plenty of business on all brands and makes.

That was 2 years ago. All is still fine!

BTW That serpentine belt goes to the OEM water pump. Who builds a WP that lasts 15 years? :gun6::gun6:

uhh, this thread is about a timing belt for a v8... NOT the serpentine belt...
