Timing belt tensioner SST

well I'm not sure if i did something wrong or the tensioner was faulty and would not compress but i managed to brake the timing belt tensioner pulley arm? thankfully i have an extra arm but i plan on just buying a new tensioner. anybody have any experience with this sst?

Was this while you were cranking on the spreader tool? That has to be done V E R Y S L O W L Y or the result is exactly what is in the the picture. It will compress, but it needs time to adjust. You are not the first.

yeah i am sure i was doing it way to fast that must have been the case. so like give it a turn every 30 seconds?

I ended up not using the tool and putting in a new tensioner so I can't say for sure. I just know it needs to be done slowly.
