timing belt-visible?

Hi

I have a 4runner v8 2003.

I recently had a starter relay changed at the dealers. On the report it said that they had seen that they had visibly seen my timing belt was wearing out.

I didnt think it was possible to see the timing belt, without removing a fair few parts, none of which are needed to remove to change a relay

Is it visible or does this sound like bs?

thanks

sounds like they mistook it for your accessory belt. Which im not sure id fully trust that tech after that.

Hmm... I mean, it isn't hard to remove one of the cam covers to look at the belt. But that seems a bit weird to do for a relay replacement...

If it was that easy for them to check (couple bolts to get a cam cover off) ask them to show you the signs of wear? If it's not cracked/cut/weather checked then it looks like a used belt - a new one with an hr of run time looks used.
